Battling severe dehydration, the muscular Lashley was coherent but despondent as he departed, his hands resting behind his head. The 34-year-old heavyweight required four IVs at a local hospital before being released the same night, according to his manager, Dan Lambert. Lashley dominated much of the action against Griggs, an unheralded Arizona-based fighter who had not competed in more than a year. However, he sustained a cut under his left eye when Griggs popped him with a well-timed uppercut on an attempted takedown and faded as the fight deepened. Lashley mounted his foe in the second round but failed to put him away with punches, and after the referee halted the action to have the cut examined, the two fighters were restarted on their feet. With Lashley visibly winded, Griggs stuffed his next attempted takedown and attacked with stout hammerfists as his opponent clung to his ankle. Lashley, a heavy favorite entering the bout, remained on the mat between rounds, and the fight was stopped. Internet rumors surfaced on Saturday night that there were issues with tests on Lashleys blood in the hospital after the fight. Lambert said that Lashley did not mention anything regarding a blood test on Sunday when the two spoke. Wow 4 IV's is ALOT of fluid and definitely a case of serious dehydration. This explains why Lashley came in so low at 246 and why his performance was sub par.
Lashley was gassing long before he got tired. He just had dominant position so his gassing was masked. When Lashley finally gave in he was beyond gassing, he was a physical mess. Heavyweights shouldn't be able to use the dehydration excuse.
Mate if he had 4 IV's shoved in him thats not an excuse. Iv suffered from severe dehydration before and had 6 shoved in me and even then i wasnt still fully hydrated.
Fighters typically lose ALOT of water. Arturo Gatti weigh in at 140, was 155 the next day but said by the end of the fight he would regularly be back to 140. Couple that with the fact that Lashley pushed himself to his limit and he is a giant of a man. Who knows what to believe. There is no reason for a heavyweight to be pulling the dehydrated line on us.
He's not pulling no line. He was carried out of the arena on a stretcher went to the hospital and had 4 IV's of solution to rehydrate him. Thats not a fairy tale its fact. Admittedly its Lashley's own fault and he'll learn a lesson from it but the facts are he was severely dehydrated.
lashley sucks i never liked his game he fights like an amateur saturday was just the first time he got punched good & he panicked i really dont see this guy going far in mma unless he gets used not to be on the juice when performing
Erm thats because he is an amateur. :think And how do you know he's on juice currently? Let me guess the muscles gave it away right?
He's come in at his lowest weight ever. Theres no way on earth your going to get dehydrated in 15 minutes of action and loose the equivalent of 4 IV's. You best believe Lashley was dehydrated before that fight even began.
Flu possibly? Either way, hope he is better, the brain can get damaged when the body is severely dehydrated. I do still feel bad that he got stood up from mount, that **** is wrong.
That was the least of his worries, if he lost to "the grave digger" because of a standup that just shows you where he is as a fighter. I didn't expect another Lesnar but I did think he would do better then that. I'm not sure he has the time to get his game to the next level.
