Maybe he did. Maybe he just fought through it. You don't know. None of us will ever know.

No . DeJesus did floor him in Nother 1 of their fights .

    U should have posted a poll .
And since u didn't I guess it is even needed 2 tell u that it should b public .

    nah it wasn't a fluke.

perhaps it was just a style matchup that didn't favour duran a few pounds above his natural weight, who knows?

De Jesus is a very good lightweight, not a great lightweight in my books but one of the best non-greats of the division certainly!

I will repeat what I said 2 years ago:

De Jesus was an excellente fighter, and it was a pre-prime Duran. No shame on losing to a very competitive contender as Esteban

I wonder why it was not made at lw as a title defence?

Probably 2 prevent any possibility of n excuse from Duran , as after all it was @ his natural weight . Hence no excuses that night .
edit : I didn't notice d 'title' word , and boxrec deteriorated technically and m 2 busy 2 check it in its new version (slow with malware/ads) 2 answer it , but I guess u genius can figure 4 yourself :yep , but much better if some1 who actually knows d answer will reply .

Sometimes over the weight fights were made so a champion wouldn't risk losing his title. That's why Robinson never became LW champion

I figured that but the fight was closer to lww then lw.

Robinson missed out by like a pound or something but I was close enough to the limit that i'm happy calling him the best lw for those few months where he kicked the **** out of the top 5

Most lightweights even back then are really 140-145 before they start cutting weight to make the limit. Duran regularly fought over the LW limit if you check his record

De jesus reminds me a bit of cuevas in that had he occupied another era he had the tools to be a great but within his own era he never reached that accolade.

I'd certainly rank him above Cuevas, he beat Duran, won a world title, unified against 1 of the best ever in Duran giving him 2 more close fights
