http://m.espn.go.com/deportes/nota?storyId=2531550&src=desktop&cc=3888 Translated: LAS VEGAS - The decision not to pay $ 800,000 to Gennady Golovkin by stepping aside and 300,000 sanction the WBC could have consequences of significance for the event this weekend, in which the only Mexico appears to be benefited Canelo Alvarez. According to the report that Cotto had violated a confidentiality agreement on the agreement with Golovkin and WBC and this could cause a lawsuit, a couple of sources close to the event star in Canelo Alvarez and Miguel Cotto said that the domino effect has begun . On the one hand, it should be noted that according to one source, the division of percentage gains in pay per view was 55/45 in favor of Cotto because he was the world champion. Being known for refusing to pay the penalty, he demanded that Golden Boy Promotions percentages division is now 50/50. Cotto's team hoped that rates will remain. It was reported that yesterday afternoon, Team Cotto asked the WBC to reconsider its position on the title, because they found it 'better' pay penalties that had been agreed that the fact 'lose' five percent on pay per view which will directly benefit Canelo Alvarez. The amount you want to pay the WBC Cotto was $ 125,000. Golden Boy Promotions ruled to comment thereon by confidentiality clauses that exist on all these issues around the anticipated fight between Cotto and Canelo at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in this city. After a couple of unsuccessful intense make rconsideraran position, Cotto and his staff sent a letter to WBC noting inconsistencies in the way in which they had taken the title and could initiate legal action against the organization. Mauricio Sulaiman, WBC holder, said he had no comment. Friday night the city will play Kazakh Gennady Golovkin and his promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, one of the most affected, as they had agreed that he would receive $ 800,000, an amount that should not have been revealed by the clauses confidentiality, and that it could force a lawsuit.
:happy The more lawsuits the better, they need to really take it to this sneaky dirty piece of ****, and make it hurt. He's a scumbag of the highest order.
And incidentally, the part that I found most humorous towards the end was, "Cotto and his staff sent a letter to WBC noting inconsistencies in the way in which they had taken the title and could initiate legal action against the organization. Mauricio Sulaiman, WBC holder, said he had no comment.". This is all wonderful. :rofl
I would not be surprised to see fans or those who purchased Tickets or the PPV to file a class action lawsuit against Cotto Promotions, Miguel Cotto, etc...!!!
But the fight hasn't actually happened yet. I mean, I have to believe that at least 95% of purchases happen fight night. So whatever they didn't know previously, they'd know by then. No? :smoke
True, but on the opposite side of the continuum is the people that a long-time ago bought tickets, etc, under the assumption that this was for the WBC Middleweight Championship...!!! The people that buy the PPV or tickets after the news broke, should be excluded from the lawsuits...!!!
I don't think the fans care all that much, they just want to see a fight, most of the people who go to the fights usually aren't caught up in the minutia of the business side of things. They just want Cotto or Canelo to beat the other guys ass, and preferably win by KO.
I don't think that's likely. But nothing would surprise me. On a semi-related note, did anything ever become of the supposed class action suits against Pac and/or Floyd and/or anyone involved in that farce of a money grab? :smoke
Haven't heard anything lately about the status of the Pac/May lawsuits...may have to research them...!!! Remember this is the good ole U.S of A. where lawsuits are filed for just about anything...!!!
Canelo via brutal KO over Cotto, in which the Puerto Rican jerk is bleeding heavily would be a fitting end...!!!
This is lovely. funny thing is, Cotto is not wrong. WBC IS inconsistent AF, and they play favorites against their own written rules. this could be a lengthy, painful litigation.
