In the same way that Margos style and size are an advantage vs Cotto, I believe DLH has the style and size to beat Margo easy. DLH is a big welter 5'101/2" to Margos 5'11". DLH can box circles around Margo. Margo is not much without the size advantage, DLH has the size, speed, punching power and boxing skills to run circles around Margo.

I think that should be DLH's last fight.

only thing is DLH also has a problem with gassing but Margo is so slow and DLH'S size and power help

    what do you guys think?

If Margarito was not much without the size advantage Santos would have cleaned him out.

yes he does but DLH is busy picking in on miniature size fighters and using his name to make circus fights in boxing

Santos was giving him trouble though Margo was coming on before the stoppage. Santos isnt all that either, but again his size is what kept him in the fight with Margo. I believe Margo enjoys a great size advantage at welter. That is one of the main reasons he lost to Wiliams, he had no size advantage. I say Margo is quite ordinary when faced with a guy as big as he is. Let him go to 154 -160 and you will see. I cant see him doing that wade in and brawl at 160 with the likes of an Abraham or Pavlik. At 147 though with guys 5' 7" and 8" he is a monster. His greatest ability is shrinking down to 147 while staying strong enough on fight night.

Cotto had the skills advantage too and Margo. still beat him. I think he'll KO Oscar earlier because Oscar lost some of his speed and he also slow down late in fights.

Stevie Forbes was able to bust up DLH. Case closed.

DLH does have a stylistic advantage over Marg but so did Cotto and I was wrong in thinking Cotto would win convincingly. However Hoya is bigger and has a bit more power than Cotto when it comes to counterpunch head shots. Yet the question is how old is Hoya's body? Will it be able to take those bombs to the body Marg throws? Hoya still has a jab and a left hook that might make Marg a bit more hesitant to throw so many powerpunches. Hoya would have to hurt Marg early to ensure he does not fade out on a guy that gets stronger with the late rounds and who will take his head off if given the chance. Damn, Oscar might pull it off but his last two fights weren't against punchers so I can't say since the Mayorga fight what Oscar's made of these days.

I thought that Margo should have gotten the decision against Santos. I think that was on the Cotto/Pinto undercard.

    Typical.

Look Santos is likely the #2 guy at 154. Margarito basically split hairs with him and hurt him on multiple occassions. Had the fight been allowed to continue Margarito could very well have won that fight. It was that close. And Margarito didn't look near as exhausted as his foe 10 lbs heavier.

If Margarito has an advantage at welter it's his chin and his height, not weight. Cotto was not more than 3-4 lbs lighter. Ditto for Clottey. And Cintron and Williams match Margarito in both height and weight. So harping on Margarito being alot bigger is a load of hogwash.

And the main reason he lost to Williams is because he did nothing from rounds 1-5. Literally nothing. He just stood there, let Williams tee off and follow him around the ring. Once Margarito started working, Williams started folding.

    Great post.

De La Hoya's jab and hook should cut Margarito to bits.

Stamina would be key in the fight. DLH had none. Once its gone like it usually is, Margarito would have an easy opponent in front of him.

DLH's far superior speed, skill, power, boxing smarts and equal size make him a very hot favorite (i my opinion a near certainty) to whup Margo. however, he is a total money-chasing ***** and is busy persuing fights with the likes of Pacman and Hatton. He'll call out Ivan Claderon before Margarito.

Bingo. A prime De La Hoya beats Margarito pretty easily, but not this version.

DLH has a chance with his money maker left hook which is still dangerous and his jab that opens up cuts. If he were to employ these he could have a chance to stop the fight and go to the cards or win on cuts... But that is very unlikely and if he doesnt do what i just said above before the 6th he's done.
