Have any of you ever noticed that the only people that have a problem with capitalism are the ones in no position to take such advantage themselves? Honestly, be objective and sincere about this before replying, please.
Him and his wife. Did you notice her facial expression during her verbal on "Countdown"? I think Tony was/is what they ( the chics) call a suiter.
The problem that you aren't seeing here is the following: DLH has never won a big fight (this may very well be his first "W" in a big fight) yet gets paid millions of dollars for coming up short. Instead of honoring his promise to Margarito, he chooses to fight PacMan who only one fight ago was fighting at 135. Instead of choosing a real challenge, DLH chooses to fight a naturally smaller man (Remember, just like he did in the beginning of his career) while dupping you and many others that he deserves this payday. He promised to clean up boxing, but what he is doing is slowing choking our sport to death with BS matches like this one. He spews garbage by saying PacMan is a dangerous challenge. Need I say more.
Well, thanks for honoring the "sincere and objective" part as opposed to pickin' up something sharp and goin' for my throat. How refreshing n' respectable. Thanks. Anyway, my point was, that's just the way it is, Dude. Oscar has taken full advantage of a full-scale capitalistic society. He's taken the ball and has been running with it for years now. I seen this comin', myself. This dosen't surprise me much at all. Granted, I knew this behavior was soon to catch up with him (as seen and heard at Sat. nights fight) and that he was sure to disgruntle some of you. But you have to honestly ask yourself, if you were in his position, wouldn't you do the same thing yourself? Remember, those that make 7 figures or better anually are in a 40% tax bracket.
In the past, I've often felt people were too harsh on DLH and didn't give him his just due. But in this instance, he deserves every ounce of criticism he gets IMO. And I agree with what you said, he keeps weasling his way into PPVs despite the fact that he loses most of them. I've been gradually losing my patience with him since the Sturm fight. He clearly should've lost that one IMO, yet off of that he was given a PPV mega-event with Hopkins, and in that one he basically looked like he either quit or took a dive. Yet even though he was roundly criticized for his performances in those two fights, he gets PPVs in his next 2 fights (one of which he loses), and just two fights later is headed into another one. It just doesn't make sense. I'd love to see the whole boxing world boycott this farce, but I suppose that wouldn't be fair to Pacquiao.
This isnt capitalism. Capitalism is charging $54.99 for a fight, and this is what you get. 1. Oscar de la Hoya vs. Antonio Margarito, in the Main Event. 2. Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Nate Campbell for all the marbles right under it. 3. Special HW Attraction. Arreola vs. Tua, for the WBC HW international belt. 4. and a chick fight. And they have a special Ring Card Girl contest that we all get to watch. But on December 6th, we get Oscar de la Avoidya and a midget. And a **** poor undercard. Typical GBP. Thats not capitalism, thats ****ing snake oil for sale.
Not only would it be unfair to Pac, but this whole boycott BS isn't gonna mean jack**** unless the majority out there adhers to such. Not to mention, there's a lotta people out there that claim they're not gonna buy but will at the last minute. If not that, they'll go to some local sports bar and pay the increased cover and spend what money they didn't on the fight on beer. What ****in' difference does it make? I'd rather be there if I can, so as to scream my ****in' head off with a buncha hell-raisin' fight fans surrounding me. Hellzyeah!
