I rate Ali far above Lewis, Wepner seemed luckier than good.

Oh Vitali fought with technical prowess. You just don't block that many bombs with your face and lose now, do you!? He was robbed and should've stayed in bed. A true pummeling, a true champion.

I voted for Ali-Wepner, giving birth to the ROCKY series.

ROCKY - Marciano almost pulls off the upset on Ali.
ROCKY II - Marciano gets dominated but pulls off the upset in the end.
ROCKY III - Tyson destroys Marciano. Ali trains Marciano how to beat Tyson and together they get the job done.
ROCKY IV - Vitali Klitschko kills Ali. Then Marciano trains in Ukraine to slay the Ukrainian Express.
ROCKY V - Marciano trains Tommy Morrison to the title. Marciano almost dies but humiliates Morrison in a street fight.

Yeah, Lewis was definitely getting the better of it in the 6th. He landed a monster uppercut early in the round and hurt Vitali at the end of it with a short right hand inside. Vitali was falling over all Lewis.

I don't know if Lewis would have continued it though, because he was exhausted. Both guys were extremely tired. You had Vitali hurt and tired when he was falling all over Lennox at the end of the 6th, and Lewis slumping to his stool, tired as all hell.

It doesn't matter though. Although it's disappointing to the fans to not have a dramatic conclusion like a 10 count or the ref saving a defenseless opponent, Lewis won fairly on cuts. The cut was bad and it was a proper stoppage.

It's perhaps the biggest non-controversial "controversy" ever. Just not a satisfying conclusion to an exciting fight because who wants to see a fight end on cuts?
