Izzy is borderline HOF for me.

But Marquez makes it as it stands.

If he retired right now, he'd be a borderline case. He's got some good things going for him, but not a huge body of work. He's still got a few years left, so if he can either clean out his current division, or move to featherweight and take over that one in the next few years, then I'd say yes. If he loses his title in his next match and ends his career as so many others do, losing 2-3 in a row, i'd say not.

Oh yeah, most definitely. His HOF status depended on the outcome of his trilogy vs. Rafael Marquez and he won it. No doubt he's one of the greatest in the SBW division history. He also holds a 2-1 win over Larios in their trilogy and Oscar was the best SBW for many years and was dethroned by Vazquez himself. The Jhonny Gonzalez victory is important as well because Jhonny was the #1 BW after Marquez left (not for long though).

Of course Marquez made his HOF ticket in the BW division with his years of domination and the big wins over Mark Johnson, Tim Austin etc. Of course it was important to beat the best in another division, and he captured The Ring belt beating Vazquez in his first SBW fight. And what a fight!

As I've said, beating THAT Marquez in the next 2 fights, possibly the best trilogy EVER, qualifies Vazquez to the HOF.

And his career is not over yet.
