Exactly my point. I'm amazed how often and how easily that term comes up. Like there are many fighters who eat hard punches and continue as if nothing happened (damn u Margarito).
:yep What freaks me out the most is that he usually SMILES when he eats a punch like that. ****ing FREAK!!!!!!!
Why would he go up to cruiser? :think Seems like there will be a lot of big fights presenting it self in the future, particularly where he could be the bigger man at LHW. He is also making weight very comfortably at 175, so i don't see why he would wish to move up anytime in the next couple of years.
on first viewing i had it a tie but when rewatching i was actually surprised how good a job johnson did of taking punches on his gloves and arms. Johnson sure as hell landed the more effective shots and definitely won in my eyes
I agree 100%. Chad should have boxed Johnson more though, and like Al Bernstein said, ''should have kept use of his jab'' and tactically, fought on the inside more than he liked. Check out that 7th round, it was Chad's easiest round simply because he did everything perfect. He used great movement, kept use of his jab and his foot movement was great as well. He made that fight harder than it had to be, because he abandoned his advantages and gave Johnson his opportunities and almost paid for it. I agree about the fans as well, they are not satisfied until someone gets stopped i guess.
Johnson is reasonably heavy fisted, but if he hit "hard as hell", he wouldn't be whinging about getting "robbed" so many times because he'd be knocking people out. He would probably hit hard as hel to the average man in the street, but for a top-level boxer his power is average.
You mean you can name many active LHW fighters that punch harder than Johnson? If you can, please do. Johnson has 32 out of 47 wins by KO, that's a pretty good knockout ratio. And what is your point exactly? That Dawson got hit by an "average" hitter and got hurt, therefore he has a glass jaw?
I am a Dawson backer as you can see from my avatar, but i must admit that Johnson is not a huge puncher. He has some pop, but hes not known for that. I would rate Tarvious Cloud, Antonio Tarver, Clinton Woods, Chris Henry and Adrian Diaconu as bigger punchers than him, even though Johnson may be a better fighter than all of them. Hes more of a systematic fighter that breaks you down over the course of rounds. HOWEVER, not everyone would take the big punches than Johnson took to get on the inside of a fighter that can punch himself. I don't believe that Dawson necessarily has a weak chin though, he took harder punches than the ones that shook him a bunch of times in the fight when he actually seen them. The shots he was getting hurt with were all counters.
