Love this: Smok’n’ Joe doing some sparring with Johnny Carson whose experience from boxing in the service is actually in evidence imo.

I can’t find any clips, but Sean O’Grady used to demonstrate some concepts/tactics as part of the USA Tuesday Night Fights - that’s where I picked up on foot positioning to deal with a southpaw

Thanks Marvelous, very cool. In tandem with his knowledge and instruction, Dundee was one hell of a real time motivator in the corner.

I guess the respect he earned from his fighters in training etc. even before they hit the ring for the big fight served to amplify and gain respectful attention to his words during the fight - he didn’t mince words but he always acted like he totally believed in his fighters 100% - hell of a boost for the fighters in question.

That’s an excellent idea. Niche subject and never gonna happen but a compilation of multiple great names imparting their wisdom would be great.

I guess easy enough to search, download and put together yourself for personal use.

I’m surprised I didn’t think of him before - but honestly just in this moment I recall that Ron Lipton has a few instructions videos out there.

Ron of course used to be a referee but I believe he also had an excellent am career - and he was noted for his punch. Can’t remember what weight he fought at - MW maybe?

I’ve just linked one - and also a video in which Ron demonstrates his right hand which onlooker George Chuvalo is quite enamoured with. Tbh, the right hand looks pretty sweet.

I've watched a lot of these and I consider Kenny Weldon's instructionals to be among the best:
