He's talking like he's got Froch's soul solved. He got the better of Degale with mind games because he grew up with him and looked to beat him his whole boxing career coming up. Also reminds me of Haye v Klitschko - "getting under his skin" "doing exactly what he wants to do", "controlling the mind games" "being aggressive and winning the psychological argument" "getting him riled and speechless on camera". It might only just serve Froch to be even more resolute and perfect on the night like Wlad. Also reminds me of Harrions v Hare - the delusions of turning everything that happens into a positive his way. turning around the sparring tale and saying he nearly KO'd Froch in the sparring just after he got knocked out himself...
best thread on this fight so far. Booth haye and groves all talk a load of bollocks and people lap it up.
Just read some of my posts in the last 2 days, i'm tired of posting the same comments but i basically call this a mismatch in which Groves gets brutally stopped. he is too fragile too handle Froch, a bit like Bute but groves might win a few rounds.
I just feel he is confident and why should he not be he is unbeaten and young. He feels he has the boxing skills to beat Carl Froch and what is wrong with that. If he doesnt truly believe he can beat Froch then what is the point in fighting this fight? seriously? He has to believe it. If we all look at this you EXPECT Froch to win comfortable and brutally but if he doesnt thats his career over this is a massive fight in terms of the longevity of Froch's career whereas on saturday win, lose, draw at the end we will find out alot about Groves and he will be able and capale to come again. NO DOUBT! He has the speed and movement to outbox Froch but the only question is once that right hand lands does he have the chin. thats something we will defiantly find out. Groves has nothing to lose but all to gain.
Groves has done nothing wrong, you have to hype your talent up and the fight, they want the fight to sell well. It will more than likely end in Froch stopping groves within 6 rounds but you can't blame him for selling the fight and his chances. Good luck to him and he is going to need it IMO.:good
Good point Terry, not much has been made of the groves / Booth split. I think changing your trainer on the biggest fight of your life is very dangerous. Groves hits the floor in round 8 after winning the early rounds !!!
From a psychological point of view he thinks he can predict everything of Froch which seems ridiculous - he's looking way too deeply into each encounter or word said before the fight. He actually seems to think that he's piling up the points with all the comments he gives and thinks he's winning the war of words beforehand, so is pulling away into an unassailable lead in the fight over Froch. Reminds me so much of Haye with Klitschko, so sure he had him beaten with every word in their meetings, like he had already won somehow. This isn't the 70s with Ali - we've seen it al before and these days it usually doesn't work like that
This. He's clearly seen something he feels he can exploit otherwise he would have gone for an easier champ and not the international superstar Froch.
