I had it 99-91 Darchinyan. Quite surprising it was that lopsided. Never been big on Vic, but he didn't do much wrong. Safe to say DelValle wasn't ready.
I won't say Orlandito is so far off of where he should be. VD is a horrible one to gauge him on, due to how bizarre his style is. He should've won against this faded version of Vic, but it's not so terrible to have no idea how to deal with a guy so out of the ordinary. I mean, he'd be awkward doing the weird **** he does in a orthodox stance, let alone a southpaw stance.
True, but DelValle had nothing to offer at all. Taking in account what Vic looked like in his two previous bouts and how those opponents adjusted to that awkward style, and eventually cruised to relatively easy wins versus Vic...if we use that as a barometer, DelValle is a long way from the top tier.
Del Valle was more than ready physically. You can see he is very dedicated. But I think his corner can't teach him nothing else. He needs another trainer. And obviously he lacked the experience to fight a guy like Vic
Darchinyan is no joke. There's an excellent chance he'll get into the hall of fame. Based on his performance last night he'd probably beat Vazquez jr.
give me a break. Darch is done. He cant beat anyone who can box in any division he wants to fight in anymore. That Puerto Rican was LOUSY, CLUELESS, had no business being on HBO
Orlandito, Perez and Escalera all had "worse case scenario" type nights on the big stage on a nationally televised card. Neither should return to one any time soon. Eventually, I'd like to see Del Valle work his way back up and think that he can do so. He doesn't have division leader potential, but he can be among the middle of the pack of contenders in time. Perez and Escalera, yeah, they don't ever again need to be in fights important enough to make a broadcast.
Darchinyan is a bit like Toney in the sense that when he is on fire he is a beast but he too often comes in out of shape and with a terrible game plan.
No, not really. He's just most-of-the-way shot. He'd have lost to Moreno and Yamanaka no matter what sort of camp he had or game plan he brought in. Del Valle clearly just isn't on that high enough level to beat a most-of-the-way shot (but motivated) Darchinyan. ...yet. Rematch, next year, I'd not be surprised if Del Valle avenged it.
DelValle is average but he is a tough *******, he took some massive shots but that's pretty much all he's got, he's like Chavez Jr.
