    What? Damn it!

    Solo Boxeo is usually live.

Hopefully it's not true...and if it is, hopefully no assholes come in here and ruin everyone's night.

I actually was going to make a new one instead, because Boxed Ears likes to give me a hard time for doing that...but if it means keeping you safe from spoilers it's my pleasure to risk a little joshing from Mr. Snarkypants. :good

I don't really want to venture into the open General Forum myself at this point :err

OK, they're making a liar out of me.

This one time they show an undercard fight to open the show.

    Round 1

Barboza comes right out with nasty right hands and set-up hooks. Tapia immediately flees for his life, zip-lining across all four ropes and trying to stay on point with reflexive leaning defense and foot speed rather than just keeping his hands up. Barboza insistently cuts him off and lobs jabs and uppercuts into his stomach as Tapia flurries and hooks half-heartedly off the back foot and outside lateral move. Barboza steps inside and catches him with a short chopping right during one of those flurries. Barboza bullies him into a corner and whacks the body. Tapia is timing and throwing his punches with Barboza now and actually does have quick enough hands to match him shot for shot but is clearly much weaker as Barboza knocks him bodily across the ring even with blocked attacks. Barboza rag dolls him a bit more until the bell.

    10-9 Barboza

    Round 2

Barboza comes out with a strong right jab, delivered in a clubbing fashion almost as a power punch. The arbitro warns them for some rough stuff and forehead grinding on the inside as they lean into each other. Tapia is staying economical with his punches, flicking out only a single jab in between defensive maneuvers (slipping and running, alternately) - allowing Barboza to not only land the much cleaner and heavier stuff but also outwork him considerably. Barboza bends forward at the waist and fires a 1-2 tirelessly but keeps falling a bit short as Tapia slides out of the way. Barboza tries a few sloppy underhands to the body, getting a bit out of control now. Barboza is warned sternly for billygoating Tapia against the ropes.

    20-18 Barboza

    Round 3

Instant clinch, almost before the bell has stopped echoing. They just lay on the ropes hugging, pretty *****. It's not a good sign that both are that tired after 6 minutes of action...though Barboza at least has the excuse of having worked that whole time (while Tapia has basically been jogging). Tapia starts throwing brazen little 1-2 slappy combos before slinking inside to clinch the slowing Barboza. Tapia then switches to a lazy hookercut as he circles to his right, completely taunting Barboza with the punch and apparently unworried about what Barboza can do. Moments later Tapia is dropped by what appears to be a punch but the judge says "no no no" and takes a point from Barboza. Maybe a low blow? Will have to see the replay if they provide one. Once time in is called Barboza crams Tapia up against the ropes, and has his arms coiled up and wrestled high overhead. The referee barks at them both. Tapia goes down again....that one low...and Tapia is in pain. Barboza looks disappointed with himself, and the referee looks ANNOYED.

With the deductions and Barboza scoring nothing much clean, you have to score that 10-7 Tapia. Ouch.

Tapia now leads 28-27...it's only a 6 rounder.

The first knockdown was a legitimate body shot, plain as day from the slow-motion replay. It landed a good two inches above the belt line. :-(

They didn't show the second one, but that seemed like it may have been lower.

    Round 4

Barboza strong-arms his way inside, just twirling his fists in piston-like motions in Tapia's general direction despite being clearly arm-weary. Tapia is still using footwork as his primary defense but is no longer covering as much ground. Barboza lands with an overhand right hook but eats a counter. Barboza hurt!!!! Tapia keeps peppering him with shots on the inside. Barboza teeters and GOES DOWN!!!!!! Barboza up. Barboza swings furiously at Tapia against the ropes with haymakers. Tapia is caught on the chin with some flush BOMBS. Tapia comes back with a quick flurry and immediately Barboza is hurt and backing up!!! WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BARBOZA DOWN AGAIN!!!!!!! Tapia shakes his fist in victory...and he HAS INDEED WON!!!!
