    Agree :good.

He deff gave Maidana a run for his money. Chop put on a display I didn't expect, and truely gave everything, I can't believe how vulnerable Maidana looked in there. Corley didn't show up to be a lamb saturday, and didn't dissapoint.

Here's to hoping you get a few more decent paydays CHOP CHOP!!

    Corley soldiers on...

The 37 year old is riding a streak of five straight losses into the hometown of none other than Ruslan Provodnikov to do battle in the dead of winter on Monday, December 5th. :scaredas:

    Balls of steel, this guy.

Even if he pulls the upset, it will be to little fanfare as this is on a Monday with no broadcast coverage in the western world.

Provodnikov did show some fallibility in his first defeat at the hands of Mauricio Herrera, who Corley was once better than at his best...but Corley's last really solid bell to bell efforts came in 2010 in competitive losses to Marcos Maidana and another eastern European on enemy territory (Fedchenko in the Ukraine).

He got savaged by Lucas Matthysse in January...I didn't see his low-key in-between effort against Iraqi-Canadian prospect Andre Gorges in March, but only gave him the first round against Puerto Rican hitter Thomas Dulorme back in June...and it was all downhill from there. Let there be no uncertainty - Corley is past his best.

It will be a moral victory if he can survive the full 12 rounds against Provodnikov at this point...which almost certainly amounts to a Provodnikov points win in Ekaterinburg. Can Chop Chop find the strength to kayo the sturdy Russian slugger? :think It would seem his only real chance at this career-saving win.

    The losing streak is OVER!!

Corley got back on the scoreboard last night. :happy He didn't do it against a bum, either. He popped the cherry of unbeaten North American 140lb champ Gabriel Bracero. The BK based boricua had frequently appeared on ShoBox in televised matches, including an upset win over fellow unbeaten Danny O'Connor. Chop Chop went to Tito's hometown and gutted out a unanimous decision!

I'm not exactly surprised that this flew a bit under the radar...nor that Lou DiBella was unable to secure TV coverage for this card, as it would have butted up against the highly anticipated and heavily advertised debut of boxing on the rebranded NBC Sports Network (formerly Versus). It is surprising that Corley managed to ebb the tide of six losses by conquering a very solid 18-0 fringe contender in hostile territory - and there hasn't yet been a single post about it on ESB, as of the next afternoon. :patsch

WAR CHOP! Whether he quits while ahead and rides off into the sunset, or battles on - he's got my full support as always. :bbb Obviously based on this result and his very game effort against Provodnikov, the 37 year old has plenty to offer. :deal

Looks like Chop Chop (Boxrec) managed to defeat undefeated Gabriel Bracero (18-0) to pick up the NABF light welter title over the weekend.

The man always finds a way back into the W column.

    Edit-

Just realized you posted IB, I had just got done doing a search for this thread to update, and found you beat me to it after I posted. Good **** man.

How the hell does Corley continue to be a problem for almost everyone he fights? Gotta give it to the man.

:blood Did you just happen to coincidentally dig up the thread to post about this, and not see it was already bumped with the same news like ten minutes apart?

    Great minds.. :yep :good

That's what lazy Sundays are for, man - a big pot of coffee and sniffing around the net for boxing news that may have slipped through the cracks.

Funny that we both thought to bump the Chop super-thread rather than make a new one about him beating Bracero.

BTW, how awesome is Matthysse looking about now? :hey

Only guy in the past two years to stop Chop, and only guy in that same time span that Chop hasn't been highly competitive with - and Chop's been keeping a busy schedule against world class operators and non-stiffs. :bowdown

Yea Chop has never been someone easy to stop, and Matthysse doing it, while Maidana had a good nights work from Chop makes you think.

With that, look at Corley's record of opposition you have to give the man credit. He consistently fights tough opponents, and most of the time gives them a pretty rough night, at the very least the get their stamina tested. And he always comes to fight and win, and finally ended a tough losing streak with a legit win, and a minor title to go with it.

    Well done Chop Chop!
