Oh, you didn't even know there was a Corley vs. Harris I? There was, a year ago (the anniversary is a week from tomorrow).

Don't sweat letting that one pass you by; it wasn't televised (or promoted all that well by DeWayne Beamon, the unbeaten super flyweight who organized the event under his Stop Running Promotions banner). Hopefully the rematch is - or at least streamed on Facebook, as was Corley's bitterly close fight against Hank Lundy in February (wherein I feel he got jobbed: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...rick-webster-vs-francisco-cordero-rbr.601661/)

Corley and Harris are both in roughly the same boat in terms of how shot & consistent (or not) they are these days. Neither is as good as they were in their perennial contender prime, but they're both still at least 75% of that form on a good night, and they're still both stubbornly giving prospects hell left & right, sometimes bagging the odd upset. Last time it was a tough battle, that Corley edged in the eyes of most observers. He's now 43 (and by fight night will have turned 44) and has put 28 more hard rounds on his treads since he last met Harris. The Guyanese man is 39, but also coincidentally has an early June birthday and will be 40 come fight night, and has been inactive since their first meeting.

On the undercard, New England heavyweight Tony "TNT" Grano will make his return after 5 years on the shelf following his loss to Eric Molina.

    6 rounder, opponent TBA.

If he beats Harris again I hope Corley gets the Lundy rematch. (and gets the nod, and then retires on a high note on a rare high-level W streak...Patrick López/Vivian Harris II/Hank Lundy II would be a hell of a swansong run)

Sounds like Corley should have the edge in this rematch. I wish boxing had some organized structure that could allow guys like this - aging former top contenders who might have a little left and want to continue their careers - to fight one another, rather than serving as cannon-fodder for up and comers. Sort of a boxing "Seniors Tour."

Exactly, the guy has paid his dues many times over and given enough young bucks a "push" (often at the expense of fair judging) - he deserves to rack up some victories over recognizable names his own age. :deal:

You mean Harris' career denouement? Because against all my instincts I have to say there's nothing wrong with Chop fighting on. He looks better at 43 than he has any right to, and can still more than handle his own. :sisi1 Hell, he beat Lundy IMO.

I'm just making a joke at where their respective careers are it. In the shitter, more or less.

I had heard that Corley is still firing on most cylinders, amazingly.

Anyone know which sanctioning body owns the belt shown in the background? Will either fighter even bother displaying it in their trophy case?

They probably don't get to keep it.

And if they do, they probably sell it within 6 months.

Didn't chop chop used to wear women's undergarments when he fought?

For some reason this fight makes me sad..I hope they are doing it for the love of the sport and not because they need a paycheck.
