I just read that the Demers/Zuniga fight's gonna be an IBF eliminator. Looks like Abraham will have to fight Zuniga soon or later...:good
Zuniga late TKO. Hopefully he eventually gets another shot. One of the more underrated fighters out there, making a good living almost exclusively fighting dangerous opponents that others don't want to face.
Zuniga was stopped by Pavlik on cuts, and it was a questionable stoppage. This is the only Pavlik fight that has a bit of controversy around it. The man has a head like a rock. I doubt if Demers, who has only a 35% KO ratio, can hurt Fulgencio. On the other hand, Zuniga has really heavy hands. JT hit Pavlik 15 times, 8 of the shots were smack on flush, and Pavlik went down on his hands and knees, and then came out in the next round and dominated Taylor. Zuniga caught Pavlik with a single left hook, Kelly's ass hit the canvass and slid a good 3 feet across the ring. The next round of that fight is the only time I've ever seen anyone MAKE Pavlik back up! Zuniga backed his ass all over the ring. The point is that Zuniga is more than capable of making Demers pay dearly for any mistakes he might make, and he is more than capable of knocking him out. I'd like to see Zuniga win this, and then at the very least get a good pay day afterwards. He deserves it. The man ducks no one, he always comes to fight and puts out 100%. If Zuniga/Demers is indeed a title eliminator, The Z man deserves it!
http://video.google.com/videoplay?d...Zuniga+kelly+pavlik&ei=P-eASKq-FpjMqgPksPCaBQ I wouldn't exactly call that backing him up. Maybe a bit of an over statement. Knock down was def ligit though.
Ya, you're right. I hand not watched that for quite awhile. It was only for the remainder of the first round that Zuniga had KP backing up. However, my main points are valid. To this day Pavlik says Zuniga hits harder than anyone else he has fought. He's a good swarmer, and he certainly has the power to take Demers out. Pavlik has improved significantly since that fight. Zuniga on the other hand is an open question. He has not been able to secure fights against quality opposition. He was suppose to be in an IBF eliminator last year, but that fell through when the opponent pulled out with an injury, and then he got screwed out of the Pascal fight. I'm going to be rooting for him. He deserves this.
I'll be rooting for Demers since he is a guy from my town but I do not think he will win, he has no KO power and a questionnable chin, it's gonna be very hard and he has to be very cautious.
If Demers wins, it would be an absolute bummer making him the mandatory to AA... Though, I don't know what to think about this fight as Demers clearly improved since his fight vs. AA and Zuniga is rather inactive recently. At home, I gie Demers a pretty good chance to win on points if his defense holds up...
Remember the last GYM boxer fighting a banger? He got floored. Remember who it was? Alcine. Everybody thought he was in tip-top condition, everybody thought he would be faster then Santos... and yet, FLOORED. Demers will suffered the same thing because GYM doesn't prepare his boxers well. It is well known that Demers & Pascal have an ego the size of a whale's dick. They think they are better then they are. They also are not the most serious at training. Also, Demers has a bad chin. He's not particularly fast. Zuniga, TKO in the 5th. The only GYM boxer that we should take seriously is N'goudgo.
Zuniga by tko maybe even losing on the scorecards like in few fight of them losing then manage to ko the other guy. Damm i remeber that fight with David lopez he was getting schooled all the fight losing all the rounds then in the las 30 seconds of the round he manage to knockout Lopez tham i was very surprised but happy.
