    We have breaking news from right here in Ballys.

    Dan Rafael:

    Demetrius Hopkins, who is supposed to be on the undercard tomorrow, just was arrested here in the hotel and led out. The reason is for owing $16,000 in back child support payments.

    Dan Rafael:

    I can't believe that just happened -- right out there in the hallway from the media center I am in.

    Maybe he wants to follow in Uncle Bernard's footsteps and serve a few years in prison....the Hopkins family sure has a lot of character....

    Of course it does. When else have you ever known a fighter to be arrested 24 hours before he was scheduled to fight? It's especially surprising if this is true...

    His manager, Cameron Dunkin, just told me the woman he owed the money to was already supposed to get $6,000 from his purse tomorrow and then the rest after the next fight. I guess it didn't work out that way.

    Odd, odd timing. Dude has probably been cutting weight for the last day or so, now he's headed to jail before he even weighs in and has the chance to eat a decent meal. :lol:

    Wow. No lie but for some reason my original thought was Demetrius Andrade was arrested. I was about to say "Great another young fighter locked up."

    Actually it's not.People with warrant's for there arrest get nabbed at work all the time.Hopkins' workplace just so happens to be in random hotels and casino's with the media always around.

    The cops knew exactly where he would be and at what time...:lol:

    It's is kind of ****ed up though:rofl

    Cameron Dunkin says they are going to get Hopkins out and he will probably be able to fight. They are going through the paperwork and if the judge allows it, he would fight and his debt would be cleared up on Monday. So we will see what happenes.

    That is the way things work in the child support system. Regardless of DHop's past, the system is completely broken. The things they do (cancel your professional license, driver's license, mess up your credit and ultimately humiliate you) only makes it harder for you to produce the money that is required to support your child.

    Granted many deadbeats deserve this or more, but many parents abuse the system to get even with the other parent and alienate the children.

    The whole thing is pretty ****ed up and politicians aren't interested in improving it because there's no major benefit for them.
