When you are basically fighting for free, Mark has learnt you either take what you can get or be inactive for longer than you want to be x1000 Think alot of people don't have enough respect for these US 'journey men' I was surprised by Calloways composure and skill after that first 30sec knock down, something you only get from fighting for such a long time. Again for the price, Weida is a quality opponent. I would back Weida against any of the Aussie HW except the top 3 http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/othersports/sexy-boxing-paying-off-for-heavyweight-mark-de-mori/story-fn4pw13c-1226381555328
There's no glory knocking the **** out of a 39 year old part-time, paycheck fighter who gets beat up for a living and is BoxRec #375 atsch Mark de Mori is 30, and has been fighting for over 8 years. How long is he going to go on blaming his appetite for mismatches on shoestring budgets?
Please let us all know the answer, to getting the fights you want in the messed up world of pro boxing. You read the article right? Like Chauncy previously said Mark was due to fight Stiverne but again the stars didn't align. Keeping busy will hopefully get Mark what he deserves soon, all he can do is keep saying yes to Fury's and Stiverne's of the world and take what is on offer. Just wondering Spider, have you ever been involved with international pro boxing? This isn't a dig at you, just wondering if you are aware of all the issues in making fights? (Serious question)
Do you think describing Troy Weida as a "quality" opponent to a forum of fans who know differently entitles you to ask "serious" questions here? Anyone who follows boxing knows the 39 year old, BoxRec #375 ranked Weida is anything but a quality opponent, and I'm sure even you know that atsch So my the "serious" question to you is why try and bull**** a group of people who will just see straight through it anyway? In response to your "serious" question: I'm here to post my opinion. Not blow my own trumpet. Suffice to say I've been in and around boxing for quite a while and seen the best and worst it has to offer.
Weida looks ready to me This content is protected We obviously aren't ever going to see eye to eye on Mark. I say Weida is quality due to the number of fights he's had and there was a tough budget/timeframe and had to be sanctioned by the WBC for the title. No use going back and forward. Weida was good enough for Alex after he beat Walker, Beck, Wilson, Barrnett, Peter and Orlov, and I think it's a decent fight for Mark, 3 fights back after 2.5 years off while he trys to stay busy. No use going back and forward. Thank you for your answer.
gotta be shittin me!! - even if you forget that Troy's a fighter with big balls who's lost to a who's who of the word's B grade fighters - he recently lost to Galen Brown - GALEN F'N BROWN - alarm bells are ringing peeps.
Surely this is not the same Troy Weida who has been stopped in 5 of his last 8 fights. The same one whose last fight was a 4 rounder against Galen Brown a fighter who has lost 19 fights but still managed to win every round against Weida
Until you come to terms with boxing basics like BoxRec #88 vs #375 represents a horrendous mismatch, and that the only 'quality' BoxRec #375 represents is 'dubious quality', you won't be seeing eye to eye with anyone at East Side Boxing mate
I have nothing but respect for Alex and have never bagged him or his opponents and have no issue with him fighting Weida as I don't Mark, but Spider while you are pulling out rankings, I would love to know the rankings when Alex fought him or your comments after he beat him. Is it's Marks opponents you have a problem with, or are you just not a fan of purple feathers? #sexyboxing
i dont have a problem with mark as a lot of people seem to on here, obviously he has been inactive and made some promises that have failed to come to fruition, but do you really think he wants to be fighting people like this? surely he knows that he cops a lot of criticism but he is doing what he must, and that is stay active, good luck to him and i hope he gets a better fight after this one.
As Leapai blasted Weida out inside 2 minutes and Weida couldn't win a round against Galen Brown, it's a fair to assume Weida is now rated even lower than he was before he fought Leapai. I certainly rate him lower now. Reality check: BoxRec's #375 ranking means they rate 374 heavyweights higher than the 39 year old, stopped in 5 of his past 8 fights, part timer Weida.
