My love for the fight game is stronger than ever. You'd have to go a long way to find a more honest character in it than Mark. A true gent that is a pleasure to work with. Hopefully his career will continue heading in the right direction.
Its going in the right direction his next opponent has lost 3 out of his last 4 and the one victory he had was against a fighter who had 10 consecutive losses before facing him. Good work.
If you don't think Calloway is heading in the right direction for a guy that's been inactive over the past few years, I don't know what to say.
I'd hazzard a guess that you've never seen him fight, with the possible exception being the Bob Mirovic fight. I don't recall your outcry when Briggs fought him prior to facing Vitali Klitschko or when Welliver recently beat him on points over twelve heats. Like I said to Spider, if you come into contact with good boxers that will box for reasonably decent purses, by all means let me know.
That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. Judging by the messages I've received from those in the industry, it should be a good scrap.
When a guy with 70 odd wins is not worth fighting after a guy has only boxed 4 rounds in 2.5 years I'm not sure what more can be done. If Mark can secure Kali in 2012 am sure that will seen as attacking the old to.
Rob Calloway was a good heavyweight who won fights for many years. But what you fail to comprehend is he is now 42 years old and simply an aging journeymen looking for another paycheck. In the states that's exactly what he's referred to as, a 'paycheck fighter'. Rob Calloway has won 2 of his last 8 fights. One of those was against a guy who was called in as a last minute replacement, after his scheduled opponent was a no-show, and the other was against a guy who'd lost his previous 10 fights. Calloway has been floored continually by most of his recent opponents. One actually flattened Calloway in all 7 rounds of their fight, and although he managed to go the distance with Chauncey Welliver, he didn't win a bloody round. Is Rob Calloway good opposition for a 30 year old with 12 years experience and hoping to go places? Not at 42 and with his abysmal recent record he isn't.
Calloway can win this. He's got enough pop to make it happen. This would be the best win of Marks career.
In all seriousness you're probably right in as much as there's hardly a standout win so far to beat. It sounds like you think your man Chauncey has deMori covered pretty easily then Messer?
Still would rate Mark's win against Mahone as his best due to the stage of his career, lead up etc, but yeah all he can do is keep fighting guys better than the last and I truly think Calloway fits this bill no matter how old he is.
Keep dreaming Total Mahone was way past his best just wanting a payday if that is MDM's best better keep fighting bums and have stupid repetitive articles about him and King being so close in the media, funny if he was contracted to King why is King not upholding his side of the contract and getting himn fights on his cards????????
