    Any thoughts on Dempsey-Brennan II?

Does anyone know whether any more of the fight exists than the rounds (1,3,4,10 & 12) we are seeing here?

The film is being run pretty fast.

(1:23-1:30), (2:25-2:55) Brennan's inside right uppercuts vs Dempsey's short left hooks.

I have 7 of 15 rounds, It was not really Dempsey's best showing at Brennan was controlling the fight from the early going and Dempsey had to pull a comeback to win in round 12. Bill also mess up Dempsey's ear in the fight. Dempsey got beat up in this one.

Based on this fight, I always felt Tunney would've had a good shot at beating even a prime Dempsey.

    Boxing was vicious back then.

I have the whole fight. Brennan showed that even a prime Dempsey was beatable. Brennan used his jab, an effective counter right, and strategic clinching to frustrate Dempsey and upset his offensive rythmn. In the second round he wobbled Dempsey. In one of the later rounds and landed a punch to Dempsey's ear that nearly knocked it off and required surgery afterwards.

Doc Kearns claimed that part of the reason Jack had such difficulty with Brennan in 1920 was because he violated the celibacy rule in training. He handled KO Bill pretty easily in February 1918, decking Brennan half a dozen times, and no doubt expected another easy bout after Miske. One thing this sub par showing did demonstrate though was that Dempsey was no front runner, and had late round knockout power we'd otherwise not suspect him of possessing today.

Dempsey was my first love in boxing, but he for some reason is forgiven all and given so much credit for doing so little.
