Loved both men, sad many now pick them to pieces, and while i know thats the idea of classic to talk old fighters etc, i think some dont give any of these guys enough respect overall, and just like to pick apart. Different times to now, we dont for sure why they skipped some fighters and not others etc, easy to rip on 80 or more years later. Cool vid any way mate
Many years ago I worked in Manhasset,Long Island where Georges Carpentier trained. I met an old man who lived there and was allowed in Carpentier's training camp in 1921. I have read that Tex Rickard pleaded with Dempsey before the bout to give the crowd of 90,000 some rounds. Dempsey took Rickard's advice till Carpentier with his laser right cross which flattened British heavyweights Bomb Billy Wells [2] and Joe Beckett in 1 round, shook up Dempsey who started to go to work in the body and soon finito Carpentier. Dempsey was the greatest rough and tumble body puncher ever...When young he was a hard as nails *******...
