in their primes they all beat him, Charles was the only one under 35, but even pushing 40 I'd say Louis and Moore would take him
I would make him favorite over all those men, though he might drop a decision to Walcott or Charles. I doubt he walks away after the Moor fight. I also think that a lot could depend upon what breaks he got early in his career.
I wonder if Moore could outlast him after taking a beating in the early rounds similar to the Durelle fight. Not that Durelle was comparable to a prime Dempsey.
If the situations were reversed and those men fought in Dempsey's era, would Jack have fought them? Regardless, I don't think he gets it done against any of them. I think Louis KOs him within 8.
Dempsey would beat Walcott, Charles, Moore, but Joe Louis would beat him. I respect everyone's opinion. I liked @mcvey's opinion for boldness, even though I disagree. A boxer who beat Louis, Moore, Walcott, Charles, and Marciano would be the most serious contender for HW GOAT.
Dempsey beats that version of Louis and prime Dempsey beats any version of Walcott. Dempsey and Marciano would have been a lot of fun to watch. Not sure how the Rock handles whirling dervish fighters like Dempsey and young Tyson. If Charles can get by the first couple of rounds with Dempsey it would get very interesting and I can see Charles winning a decision. I'm just not sure he would get by the first couple of rounds.
Their is zero chance THAT version of Louis beats Dempsey. Prime for prime, It's a lot closer and any man's game but I'd still give it to Dempsey 55-45.
this is an interesting proposition for those two era's... while I believe the turn of the century, early 1900s fighters were TOUGH, Strong Capable and Resilient Fighters, I do not believe the Athletic Stylists, Slick Cagey Boxers and Artists came into until about 20 years, give or take later. I see BOTH Era's as Tried & Tested Fighting Men, but the Artist/Boxers would have that developed, evolved edge over all before them. a Level of Craft that excelled applaudably right into the 1970s and beyond... a Level not seen 'before' and has also waned some among most (certainly not all), 'since'. they ALL Beat Dempsey, the Whole Era beats the 'before' Era's - Generally speaking.
As they actually were when Rocky fought them? Dempsey KO 5 Louis Dempsey KO 8 Walcott Dempsey KO 10 Charles Dempsey KO 6 Moore
