Nobody watches it because it's boring, Eric Esch was very popular and yet wasn't good.
He brought exciting fights, the ones people want to see. People don't want to see Wlad because it's 1,2 hug even if his opponent isn't punching back.

Peter, Byrd, Brock, Brewster, Iggy, Chag, Haye, Chambers. All were top 5 around the time he beat them.

Dempsey split the division with wills. This comparison is fairly unique in that both had a long term 1&2 situation.

Jack didnt fight for about 5 of his 7 years as champ. Wlad is much more active and much more proactive.

    Stop that Luff, stop it.
Brewster destroyed Wlad and was unranked and retied when Wlad beat him.
    Brock wasn't top 5 ranked.
Byrd was shot to **** who lost to Golota who was even more shot to ****. Only was rated cos he won the title by default.
The rest were useless , even Steward said so.
The division was just not good enough to rank him highly along former greats and he still lost badly.

Dempsey best achievements are beating guys twice his size , getting blown out of the ring and coming back to win by ko. That will trump Wlads best achievements in outpointing CW's half his size.
Jack broke records on live gate sales , was a bigger figure than Babe Ruth and is an icon cemented in boxing history.

wlad beat Brewster because he had a dogey eye, we all know that now, but noone knew that then. Brock was undefeated and very highly rated, he was number 7 but Wlad had beaten two guys ranked above him hence my top 5 comment.. Call them useless but they were the best around and that's all a man can do.

For Wlad to beat a guy twice his size is impossible. Wlad beats people as big as those who Dempsey beat though and this is a divisional comparison, not p4p. Wlad has earnt more money than Jack, probably seated more fans and has also come back from knockdowns to be victorious. Nostalgia aint something I credit very highly.

Try again if you wanna convince me.

Everybody knew at the time he was in an injury induced retirement and pushing 40.
Againt Sam Peter. To even be knocked down once by him is an embarrassment.

We all knew Brewster was past it, and Wlad was a big favourite, but the eye injury didn't really come out until the helenius fight. still though, avenging a defeat is something i always respect, no matter the circumstances.

Less of an embarrassment then being knocked down by firpo.

the key here is that the criticisms to wlad apply also to dempsey.

arguable co-hosted a title reign. knocked out early in career embarrassingly. sat atop the rankings for 7 years fighting opponents who's quality can be questioned. it's just that wlad has done it against more rated opponents than jack did.

Dempsey was KOéd in the first by Fred Fulton. His best win as champion was the KO of Carpentier, a lightheavyweight. Even with horseshoes in his gloves - he would be KOéd by Klitscho.

It would be even more embarrassing to get knocked down by an Argentinian who makes Samuel Peter look like Floyd Mayweather.

Ottke was no.1 ranked in the SMW division and went unbeated defending his title for 7 years. Thats dominance.

He was never ever considered a dominant force in the division. I think you're the first person I've ever seen claim otherwise.
