At a time when Jack Dempsey is getting downgraded by some posters and Walcott and Charles have had there reputations enhanced by the years ,I thought it might be interesting to se how people think Jack would do against ,the duo. When I was young Dempsey was linked ,with Louis as the no 1 or two best Heavy of all time ,Jersey Joe and Ezzard were lumped together around the middle of the all time ratings ,all most as afterthoughts,as their stars have risen and the Maulers has declined what are your thoughts on matches between Jack and the Marciano victims?

I really, REALLY don't like Walcott's chances against a prime Dempsey.

Walcott would get smashed I think.

Charles has a serious chance but the it's probably he would get trapped and murdered too. Charles-Dempsey would be an entertaining fight though.

My first response is Dempsey is just too much for both. But Dempsey never fought boxers as skilled as these 2 and when he fought someone around the same skill level got schooled (past prime but still). I pick Dempsey KO both, but maybe 1 of both would win the decision

Well, Walcott survived 13 rounds with a peak Marciano when he was a bit past his best himself, and didn't go out easy against an aging Louis either.

So i'd give Walcott a pretty good chance. Especially if you consider that Walcott has a good chin, great ring tactics and dealt with a lot of punches. If he can whether the early storm, i can definitely see him win a decision. I see this fight close to 50/50.

I like Charles' chances less because he often didn't mind mixing it up and that's not a good idea with Dempsey.

Chris, Walcott would mix it up too, certainly did with Rocky.

He went for the KO early, but when he saw he couldn't stop him, he went back to his usual boxing self.

Walcott would give Dempsey absolute fits, ditto Charles. Dempsey could possibly stop both, but I doubt it and I'd be confident in picking both to decision him. Marciano is a tougher prospect than Dempsey.

Heck, look what 'Fireman Flynn' did. :hey

Dempsey was quicker and more accurate than Marciano. In his prime I think he has an easier time with these guys than Rocky did, but they'd still be close fights.

I think Dempsey was dangerous and with his speed and power could stop both men but on the same token,I think Walcott and Charles had good power, and other good boxing ability to give Jack a tough fight..did they have better power than Tunney? I rate Jack higher than both but these fights would not be easy ones and he could get upset.

walcoutt could hit though. look what jack sharkey did to dempsey early on when he mixed it up with jack, dempsey was pretty hurt. dempsey has never faced a tricky boxer who could punch hard like walcott. footwork seemed to really confuse dempsey, walcott had the best footwork. I think walcott would give dempsey absloute fits, i disagree with russell completley in his assesment walcott had no chance.

I agree with chris went walcott realized he couldnt put them away, he would go back to his walcott waltz andf out box the fighter, trying to trap them into a counterpunch bomb.
