    That was because Tommy tried to get out of one of the white-slave cat-houses Dempsey was riding shotgun on without paying.

    Here's a verified comment from Gibbons about Dempsey. "don't let anyone tell you Dempsey can't box".
    Gibbons said every time Dempsey connects he hurts you and showed several bumps on his head from where he had ducked in an effort to avoid Dempsey' s fists.
