Dempsey vrs. Marciano

Marciano will stop him imo, some may say that Dempsey is more skilled, might be true, but i dont think that will be a determining factor here, i just think Marciano will stop him at some poiint. Just my opinion

 

it would be a hell of a brawl between two of the toughest fighters ever..i would have to go with dempsey on his skill level..i disagree with teeto that skill wont play the main factor i think it does as dempsey is a tough guy just like marciano and i dont see dempsey getting stopped id say dempsey sd marciano

 

It's possible, im just of the thinking that Marciano's will to win will wiin out the day for him. Although Dempsey's skill on offense was very good, Marciano's was also very effective and it could POSSIBLY be argued that Marciano is an awkward one on offense, lacks defense but is unpredictable, a bit of a niightmare to be in there with. I also think that Marciano was greater, but that's an opinion (though one i feel quite strongly on). If Dempsey turns on the heat he's buying into something that if he doesnt finish, could spell doom for him. I respect your opinion though,

 

i agree with your opinion as well i think the thing here is im a dempsey guy and your a marciano guy haha but marciano is as good as your going to find and i could see it going either way in a heartbeat it may come down to who has a better day not even who is a better fighter and his offense is awkward but im worried about the lack of D and with both fighters tasting canvas in there career it would make for a intersting fight if dempsey turned on the heat and kept it on..i would say his best bet is to use his better skills and stay away from turning on the heat UNLESS you know you have him in big trouble

 

Yeah, im thinking Marciano would be best off attempting to smash him head on with the big rights etc. And if Dempsey can just be Dempsey and turn it on but keep it on (as you said), then it might be his best chance, both are tremendous finishers imo, hard one to pick if both have their very best day. Im not really a detractor of Dempsey, when guys can be that savage it sometimes has me in awe, check the guy in my avatar!!!

 

yeah i agree to i think The Rocks best chance is to fight inside with his head on dempseys chest and they are both amazing finishers if you were hurt you might as well forget it and if both had there best day i would have to flip a coin i think i also lean towards dempsey because the day that he fought in was just savage and pure kill the guy across from you and that has me in awe like you said it was just im waiting for you with a punch to the face get back down. and not to start a thread within a thread but how about jack johnson vs marciano i think that would be tremendous as well

 

Yeah, it would be a hard one, i really rate Johnson personally, but i can understand people picking Marciano on the strength of them just thinking that he was so prolific he could do it. Still, i'd have to really analyze it to get a proper conclusion!

 

yeah i agree with that also i think highly of johnson and i think he could fight in any era at all but i agree you would need to look at this one and analyze it a little more than just a quick thought

I can see Marciano possibly getting finished off by a few fighters, but no way in hell does he get stopped after 6 or 7 rounds. His stamina was simply too great, unless you're saying Dempsey wins by cuts which is possible.

My pick is Marciano here. He packs possibly the harder one punch power, is definitly the more durable fighter, and has better stamina. Dempsey has the edge in speed and punching ability but in a slugfest the more durable fighter usually wins.

I think Rocky is a bad matchup for Dempsey, one of the worst that can be made. He is granite chinned, iron willed, has limitless stamina, and great one punch power, I don't see Dempsey being able to stop him and Marciano would take over late even if he got beat up early...

 

dempsey tko on cuts late in a gruelling bloodfest its a war tho but i see dempseys skills making the big difference

This thread seems to pop up every month. I'll say the same thing I always have: Dempsey wins. Could be by early stoppage, could be by late stoppage, could be on cuts, could be a KO, could be the ref or the corner calls it to save Marciano from further damage.

 

Dempsey's will was just as great as Marciano's.
