Could Cooper trouble Dempsey early ?

How do you rate this matchup stylistically ?
Bert is dangerous early with power , but Jack's pressure style is relentless .
Does Cooper land something big first,or does Dempsey drown him in volume?
15 rounds and fighting in Jack's era.

Bert Cooper in the first 3 rounds of a fight can be tough for almost anybody.

Dempsey has the better chin and durability, that should see him through, but when both guys have that level of power, anything can happen.

Cooper has a punchers chance but IMO Dempsey is faster and should get there first . I can see this being a Dempsey-Fripo type fight with both guys hitting the canvas. Dempsey wins after getting off the canvas for a win.

Same, it's almost like a wild west shootout.
Both men are getting hit hard, but only ones walking away, I think that's Jack.

I'd take (Crack)Smokin' Bert Cooper to outslug Jack. He's the closest thing to Langford we have seen in the past century.

Yeah and Mickey Walker he had some chin and durability and power so he would beat Cooper also. What’s the matter with me throw in Greb and Ray Robinson they ll all beat poor Bert. Let’s not forget Benny Leonard he had it all he d win too.

I’ve been more generous to Bert Cooper here than most would.

Also, Cooper easily made 190lbs CW, he wasn’t a natural HW at all, him and Dempsey were a similar size.

He was 218 and 221 in probably his 2 biggest wins against Joe Hipp and Orlin Norris.

Cooper always fell apart vs his best opposition. He would not start becoming a world beater in the ring vs a universal all time great. Dempsey wins early and brutally.

    Jack Sharkey:
“Dempsey was so much faster than Marciano it’s not funny. He would come at you in a little ball and if he hit your shoulder he broke your shoulder. If he hit you to the body it felt as if his fist came out your back. If he hit your hip he dislocated your hip”

    Grantland Rice:
“From ringside it was unbelievable to watch. It appeared that Dempseys next blow would take his head clean off. Dempsey must be the hardest hitter ever to live”

    Nat Fleischer:
“Dempseys blows sounded like a wooden hammer striking an anvil”.

it doesn't work like that. cooper never stopped anybody in a heavyweight championship fight. so he never ranks. he's an also ran.
