Toledo Dempsey shot his wad in the first round against a 37 year old novice who had fought 10 rounds in 4 years. Completely different circumstances against a welltrained, focussed Rock, who was leagues better defensively than Willard, and even than Dempsey.

This is a tough one. Dempsey seems to be too fast, ferocious, and devastating for Marciano. However, the Rock's stamina, chin, and punching power would give him a chance against any fighter. Dempsey would have an easier time against Frazier, but I have to go with a prime Dempsey over Marciano in a brutal kill-or-be killed, all-out war.
Dempsey all the way! I used to play as Jack Dempsey when I pitted him up against Marciano in the old Knockout Kings game, it was fun. In fact whether it was against Marciano, Butterbean, Leon Spinks, Virgil Hill or Ray Mercer, I would use him just to jump start my action for the latter fights involving guys with the tremendous hand and foot speed and it worked all the time. "The Manasuer Mauler" :think, hmm I hope I got that right?
Which beggars the obvious following question. Who the fvck are you? Other than some ******* with nothing more than a worthless opinion no more or less valuable than the guy you are berating.
Well well well someone's a hypocrite. I could say the same about you :yep I'm not here to debate faceless nobodies (Yes I'm aware, same goes for me as well but *shrugs*) I'm here to debate boxing. :hi:
G,,which book on Harry Greb ? As to your question if Dempsey "avoided" Harry Greb ? Well he didn't fight him that's certain. But I have always felt that were I Jack Dempsey's braintrust I would have not fought Greb for it would have been a no win match for Dempsey. If Greb outsped and decisioned Dempsey, there goes Jack Kearns and Tex Rickards million dollar mealticket that they would have lost, Kaput. If Dempsey catches up to Greb and stops him {which I strongly believe], the boxing public would surely say "why does Dempsey pick on a middleweight ,instead of someone Dempsey's weight "? . A NO WIN situation. Imagine If a prime Joe Louis picked on a Tony Zale to fight or a Joe Frazier tackled a middleweight Marvin Hagler ?. Bad business... cheers.
