Thanks. Getting the thumbs up from Sam Lanford is pretty high praise.

This is in reverse order. I would move Johnson up a few.

I think that Dempsey would just get too much done too quickly.

He would not have to look for Marciano, and his early onslaught would either force a stoppage, or put Marciano beyond asserting himself further down the line.

I am sort of happy that this fight did not happen, because it has all the hallmarks of being another Benn McClellan.

Can you see a scenario where Marciano wins?

prime for prime a true classic war, fight starts fast but caution come into play once an exchange takes place and power is felt, this fight goes into 5th to 10th round in a war but beyond that get more grueling and brutal. Marciano had proven late power and both had very good chins....Marciano by late stop 10-15 because he was stronger in the wars from 10-15

Dempsey would be overwhelmed as he over-controls his attempts to manipulate Marciano in a clinch. Marciano breaks free to and throws a pawing jab to set off Dempsey's instinctive habit of ducking low whilst moving forward, then proceeding to land an knockout via uppercut.

    Absolutely.

Dempsey has to play his own bullet dodging game, keeping moving towards that Suzie Q..

I just think that he has less bullets to dodge than Marciano.

Neither would be stopped thats for sure. Neither have a legit stoppage loss in both careers. Dempsey would keep moving and stay on the outside and box Marciano. There's no way he's going toe to toe with him. I see Marciano stalking him the entire fight wearing him down and maybe dropping him in the late rounds. UD for Dempsey
