Because Kenny fought like a 37 year old stiff who hadn't been in a ring for more than a waltz for 4 years? You're going to have to do better than that for proof of beating the guy who beat Ali twice.
I could see it going either way. Norton stands 2-3" taller (depending on the source), has a 3" reach advantage, and would weigh about 20-25 more Lbs. (solid Lbs.). Norton broke Ali's jaw and outpointed him in '73. He lost a very close decision to him in '73. He was robbed of a decision over Ali in '76. He won a close decision over Young in '77. He lost a very close decision to Holmes in '78. He stopped Quarry, Zanon, Bobick, Kirkman, Lovell (Spider Rico), Middleton, Stander, Clark, Garcia (their rematch), and others. Yeah, he was stopped by Foreman... so was Frazier, Lyle, and others. Foreman would have stopped Dempsey as well.
In 1970 Dempsey would crush Norton, I don't see anyone disputing that. By 73 I just don't see the 190 version doing the job. Give him another stone of muscle and I do.
Norton was 207lbs when 188lbs Garcia kod him, he had added just 3lbs ,[210] when he beat Ali 3 years later. I don't see your point.:huh
I think Dempsey does the job when Garcia did. I don't think he does 3 years later, not without putting some muscle on.
I think that all of the better finishers of the heavyweight division would have gone through Norton. Sam Langford would probably have demolished him!
And Norton stopped Garcia in the return. How many times do you believe a prime Norton really lose to Garcia in series of TEN fights?
I make Norton a massive favourite over them all. Not because he's better, but because he's bigger. I'd imagine all beat him in 1970 and all lose a rematch 3 years later. If Demspey wants to be at a 20 pound disadvantage against a great fighter, he's probably going to lose.
Norton doesnt have the chin or the style to hang with Dempsey. Cross arm is an open invite for Dempseys massive hook. Easy night for Jack
