Yes. Impossible really. We can only imagine Sullivan unfortunately. No doubt he was a killer in the ring.
Given the rule set I’d say Dempsey wins 7 out of 10 times, Sullivan definitely has a punchers chance, but Dempsey should and probably would be favored
Interviews of the long dead hwt champions which are on every recording quite obviously. I believe you are mentally ill. Maybe I won’t give you that toilet brush anyway.
The only things that we really know about Sullivan, are his tale of the tape, the stance that he fought from, and that his key attributes were power, speed, and finishing ability. He obviously fought from a crouch, and used a peek a bo style, a bit like Floyd Patterson. Physically he was a bigger man than Dempsey, but shorter and less rangy. Given the above, you can fill in the blanks to any outcome!
We just can't tell. Dempsey was not hard to hit, which gives Sullivan a chance regardless of where you estimate his skills. I think Dempsey movement and likely better hand speed would give him this fantasy fight. If Sullivan had more meat on his resume, we could have a better guess.
This radio tournament is fascinating, not by the picks the computer and, but by the fighters and historians most familiar with the fighters most here hardly saw. I think Jess Willard's comment on Sullivan was near perfect.
