Matthews was obliterated and Cockell was an off night

not to mention that Cockell certainly didnt weigh as if he used to be a light heavy...........

No, Cockell had 30 lbs of lard on him. Does any 175lbs man beat Marciano? Fitzsimmons,Langford?

fat is still weight, ask Butterbean

No, i wouldn't favor any light heavy over Marciano. Nor would i favor any light heavy, including a 175lbs Langford, over Ezzard Charles

Dempsey and Tunney are def better then prior style wise but even then they have a lot of style issues especially Dempsey as far as offense and defense goes. Both men had the natural tools to compete.

Stop spilling common sense onto this forum. Many know it alls want to ignore these things so they can disparage the likes of Marciano! I don’t get the obsession but to each their own I suppose.

A fantastic skewing of fact and criteria... Fitzsimmons weighed at a modern super middle limit against Jeffries. Those who troubled Holy, Mike, Larry, Floyd and Ali were not. Or even that close. Johnson's KD against Stanley was dubious at best. And Hart and Corbett really shouldn't be mentioned in the context of modern heavies.... or even primordial heavies.

You have me convinced. Marciano was a great lightheavy!

Charles and Moore didn't weigh within light heavy limit either.....

I was talking about those who come up from the weight class

Johnson got his **** rocked by Ketchel, don't even play that dubious crap

Put the veracity of this statement to a test and make it a poll. I don't think you will be pleased.

According to day before accounts Fitz weighed in at 170 1/2. Not an official weigh in perhaps but one that sought to dispel the rumor that he weighed only 158. Sources available.

Apart from Corbett beating Marciano I don't think Dempsey's picks are that bad.
