Shocking news.Boytsov was once one of the most promising new faces at heavyweight.Due to injuries,his brittle hands,his lack of motivation and determination as well as his frustrating struggle with his former promoter made him lose his desire to conquer the throne of gold and glory. 'AS Alex Leapai prepares to resurrect his boxing career in Moscow next week, one of his toughest opponents is fighting for his life in Berlin. Leapai tackles Lebanese-born Manuel Charr in Moscow on Sunday week as Denis Boytsov, the star Russian Leapai manhandled in 2013, remains in an induced coma in a Berlin hospital. Leapai, 35, the former truck driver from Logan, beat Boytsov for the right to face Wladimir Klitschko in Germany last year, becoming the first Australian to fight for the world heavyweight title in 106 years. Boytsov has won three fights since losing over 10 rounds to Leapai in Bamburg, Germany, but police are now investigating after the former world junior champion was discovered lying on a train track in an underground tunnel in Berlin with serious head and hand injuries. He was thought to have been drinking heavily. He underwent surgery and was placed in intensive care. Boytsov, 29, was the world junior heavyweight champion in 2004 and won his first 33 pro fights before Leapai overpowered him in a mauling brawl. I just pray Denis recovers, Leapai said yesterday after finishing an 11km run with trainer Noel Thornberry in Gatton. Hes a nice guy, a tough opponent but a nice guy out of the ring. Denis was very strong. He gave me a great fight. No one really expected me to beat him but getting the decision over him in Germany changed my life.'
