Ceballo is playing whack-a-mole, hitting the parietal lobe with mostly jabs, plus a smattering of right hand leads as Ahumada alternately bounces in place & dives in. Ceballo is bowling in right uppercuts on the rib cage and then scoring jabs on the chin when Ahumada doubles over. Ceballo begins to land more and more on Ahumada, who is wilting. Ceballo nails him with a VICIOUS barrage on the ropes, a left hook following by a triple looping right, Ahumada's head jerking back sharply, Ahumada down. Somehow the ref lets him beat the count and continue, with 15 seconds left. Ceballo opens up on him but Ahumada survives.

Round 1

Shafikov is pressuring behind the southpaw jab and has Suárez on the run early. Cuffing lefts into the hairline & guard by Suárez, trying to line up a right as he trots in a circle. Shafikov grazes him with a well-timed left and hurts him. Suárez is lashing the sides of Shafikov with underhanded shots and eats a couple of left uppercuts in the bargain. Shafikov is fanning out right jabs, cutting in, blocking Suárez's combinations on his raised right forearm, sometimes turned horizontally.

Round 2

Suárez is throwing wide left hooks and long right uppercuts aimed for Shafikov's body from too far out, then running laterally along the perimeter. Shafikov presses in. Suárez grows negative, leaving his tentacles hanging out after each punch. Shafikov is working the body and doing some infighting when Suárez tries smothering him from above, but upon separation is crashing the left hand up high into the face. Suárez is backed into the ropes with left uppercuts and forced to envelop Shafikov's upper spine by leaning down on him and slapping at him on the way in & out from clinching.

Round 3

Suárez is getting skewered with straight left hands on the body from outside as Shafikov pitches himself forward, head carried down at waist level. Suárez is trying to catch him on the way in with right hands, but they're just dinging harmlessly off the back of his head and not slowing Shafikov down. Suárez unable to dissuade or grab him so he runs. Shafikov is putting together a few combinations upstairs but mostly focusing on planting that left fist on the stomach.

Round 4

Suárez is getting caught with right hooks on the jaw even as he leans forward to meet Shafikov and lands on his face with light shoeshines. Shafikov is using twitchy neck-jerking motions to slip punches and twisting himself partway around to load up his left hands downstairs. Nice step-aside move by Suárez, able to plant an uppercut on the bottom of Shafikov's chin. Headbutt, pause by Jack Reiss to check both fighters, time in. Shafikov is ducking the jab and chiseling into Suárez's body with the left.

Round 5

Suárez is finding success with the right hand from outside, delivering it with his glove supinated, palm facing the ceiling, but still a straight punch. Suárez is running and playing a stick and move game with that pot shot right, not letting Shafikov ever build up much of a lather at effective range. Shafikov landing no more than a couple of body shots before Suárez has vacated the premises, snapping to avoid corners and leading Shafikov on a merry chase while punching into his now cut eyelid.

Round 6

Suárez is now having to contend with the Shafikov right jab, which the Russian southpaw is standing full height to deliver on the front-foot. Suárez is flicking out his left jab to counter and sometimes pairing it with a soft right while pivoting away, these flurries mostly window-dressing to keep Shafikov from barging in...which he does anyway. Left uppercut on the body by Shafikov and then a double right hook up top, forcing Suárez to clinch. More right hooks up top and left uppercuts on the body by Shafikov, putting together varying amounts of each in combination coming forward.

Round 7

Suárez is tired, finding himself trading in the pocket more with Shafikov now and unhappy about it. Busier volume from Suárez but heavier and more precise blows from Shafikov. Suárez down as Shafikov wrenches free of a clinch, ruled a shove/slip. Shafikov working the body. Suárez jumps in and out of range throwing weak jabs and getting clipped on the face with combos, finally falling in and holding. Shafikov is slipping jabs by threading his head around the wrist of Suárez, and hitting the body. Shafikov now straightens up and walks Suárez down with the southpaw jab until his arm is grabbed and yanked in under the armpit. Reiss is ordering breaks every so often but starting to let them fight their way out of it a little more, which Shafikov is happy to do with body combos upon extricating either hand.

Round 8

Suárez is caught by a big right hook while circling to his left and flurrying. Shafikov is walking in with a shoulder-gyrating rhythm, baiting Suárez to jab and then shooting his own right jab past it, getting there first. Shafikov is bullying Suárez into the ropes and spanking him with a right hook on the belt line after feinting up top with a left. Suárez holds and spins until losing his grip. Shafikov is staying back just far enough for Suárez to come up short with his jab and then launching himself in with thumping lefts on the chest. Shafikov takes a couple of right hands on the face walking in and claps the body. Shafikov eats an uppercut. Suárez is having a better 2nd half of this round, but not enough to steal it. Shafikov comes in low and Suárez pushes down on the back of his head.
