(you might remember Balzsay was supposed to fight Inkin for the title but he got injured and Zuniga was rustled in.) My impression is that EDIT: UNIVERSUM had the title for Balzsay in mind in the first place; they probably see him as more marketable.

...in other news, Sauerland are looking to give Mads Larsen a shot at the IBF title (Bute/Andrade winner) or at Kessler. You might remember Bute was supposed to fight Larsen this summer to honour a contract Interbox signed with Sauerland, according to which Bute was to fight another Sauerland fighter next, if he beat Berrio, in exchange for Berrio being allowed to fight in Montreal without purse-bids. Bute got injured, though, so that fight fell through.

Nice info... of course Inkin and Balzsay are with Universum. It's an important difference because markatability for Universum and Sauerland are two different things. :smoke

Larsen was pretty good back then when he fought Ottke. It's pretty bad that he had such a long lay-off... I don't think he has the mojo anymore to beat someone like Bute.

Yeah, sorry, Universum.:good How are marketability for Universum and Sauerland two different things? Don't they pretty much do it the same way? Please explain.

Huck, Hernandez & others on TV in Germany, Buffer as announcer, crowds in arenas, Abraham on US TV vs. Golovkin, Inkin & others off-screen even champs like Dzinziruk totally unknown, protected, girls fighting on TV instead of them...

Yes can't see why Larsen v Bute, when Kessler v Larsen will be massive. Every boxer looks for marketable bouts, and this will make a lot of money for Kessler and Larsen in Denmark.

What's the point sending Larsen to Canada following the Bute-Andrade "home cooking"?

Yeah like there is no "home cooking" in Germany....

Bute doesn't want to fight Larsen. But he has too. It's either Larsen or some other Sauerland fighter.

There are 3 Sauerland fighters in the top15 of the IBF. So it will be one of those guys for sure.

    Tsypko, Murat or Larsen.

Personally, I can't see why Kessler would want to waste his time with Larsen. Not to mention he could get even more money fighting guys like Hopkins, Taylor, etc...

Kessler IMO is poorly managed..so this isn't a surprise.

As per Larsen-Bute, if it's gotta happen then so be it..but I think this fight does nothing for him at this point. Interesting that Stieglitz might get a title shot, even though Andrade TKO'd him with ease in their fight.

    I didn't know Dirrell-Oganov was a title eliminator.

When did the WBO start sanctioning title eliminators? :huh

Why didn't they do it while Calzaghe was the champion? :huh

    :rofl

All the guys ranked before him took different routes.

Froch and Pascal went for the WBC

Taylor and Lacy went for the WBC (Eliminator)

    Inkin went for the WBO

    etc...
    etc...
    etc...

Also, the IBF has a rule that a fighter that lost his last fight can not participate in an elimination bout. There are exceptions like Ngoudjo-Urango tho.

I just think Stieglitz is a massive step backwards for Lucian. Not his choice obviously...but guys like Lardsen and Stieglitz are cannon fodder for him at this point.

If he wants to stay active then that's fine...but it's like the Joppy fight. Unneccesary fights for a guy who should be taking the last steps forward in his development.

Of course, there's home cooking wherever there's a home!

Jeff Lacy v Tsypko, Bute-Andrade, and plenty of examples from Germany. It's just that Bute-Andrade was the most recent & very dramatic.

I'd like to see Kessler v Murat (WBA#5) and Larsen (WBA#7). Decent fights. Better than Gusnyl Perdomo, the upcoming voluntary apparently.

Kessler just has to keep winning impressively. Froch, Taylor, Pavlik, Abraham - some of these will want to fight him in the next year or two.
