Please take it easy Carl. Surely this is too much too soon - after all you're only 30 years of age and already have the grand total of 22 fights under your belt. Slowly building towards inevitable global domination should remain the way forward

He gets hit flush on the chin pretty hard, pretty often, without flinching, and just walked through them. Reid fight is an example. He hasn't faced a murderous puncher yet but his chin seems his best asset. I think if he didn't have such a good chin, his style would be very different...he wouldn't stick his chin out and come forward swinging hard...would he?

Glad this fight is happening - I'd like to see winner face Bute for the IBF title.

I predict that Inkin will build up a nice lead but Froch will catch up with him for a late stoppage victory.

    Froch TKO11 Inkin

Only in a unification fight against Bute...winner of Froch v. Inkin will become WBC Champ.

Are you still 100% sure? (I know I've been lazy, and should just check the WBC site). But I can't even remember when a mandatory challenger was given the WBC title, without having to face the next highest contendor for the vacant title???

Froch to look sloppy for a few rounds and get caught a few times before going through the gears about round 6 or 7 and getting a stoppage after a couple of knockdowns.

These two ARE the two highest contenders.

After a bit of a look up, I'll have to concede.

    Rule 1.26:
"Vacant Title. If a title becomes vacant for any reason, the Board of Governors may in its discretion take whatever steps or actions it deems necessary or appropriate to fill the title, including but not limited to: 1) authorize and cause to be instituted a tournament or elimination contest among leading available contenders in the division of the vacant title, with the winner being recognized as the new champion; or 2) authorize or cause to be instituted a direct bout between the two highest rated available boxers and recognize the winner as the champion; or 3) appoint as challenger the champion of a lower or higher division to contend against the highest rated available boxer of the division for the vacant title; or 4) recognize as champion the winner of a previous elimination bout. This list is non-exclusive."

So you got me on number 4... BUT, they DO have 3 other options to choose from, which COULD include the winner of Froch-Inkin fighting the next highest contendor (either Kessler, JT, or the winner of the two IF they hopefully fight)

When was the last time a mandatory challenger was GIVEN the title, without holding an interim title before hand?

Inkin and Froch are both highly ranked with all organisations. The winner is deserving of a title. No reason to make him fight Kessler too...unless they want Kessler badly. We'll see. My money is on the option that they'll give the winner the title and make Kessler mandatory.

    Very much a possibility.

Although Kessler and Taylor are more NAMES, and being the #3 and #4, I wouldn't jump to any conclusions.

Personally, I would rather Calzaghe vacate his belts NOW (I know, he deserves the right to choose to come back down, but still), and the WBC to order Froch-Inkin to be a VACANT title match, rather than a no. 1 contendor match.

    Just My Opinion.
