:dead Was Tszyu pulled out by his corner? If not then your point is completely moot

Some fans will criticise, sure, but frankly I don't value the opinions of such people. Ortiz quitting vs Maidana-fine, criticise. Ortiz quitting vs Lopez-that to me is a legitimate quit. Yes, he could've continued, like Abraham did in that situation, but I'm not gonna begrudge the guy his long-term health. Likewise, I don't think Margarito should've been allowed to go the 12 vs Pacquiao, nor should he have been cleared to fight vs Cotto. I think Arum just wanted to squeeze him dry in one last cash-out fight.

How many fighters have we as fans seen suffer with health problems in their later years? Ali, Iran Barkley, Meldrick Taylor, to name just three. We the fans need to remember that boxers put a LOT on the line for our entertainment, and we need to be more discerning with our criticism of them.

Victor Ortiz has quit three times, none of which there was any real reason to do so IMO.

Maidana was a fight he ought to have won in the first round, a smarter fighter would have realised that Maidana would have come back swinging after the knockdown.

He quit against Floyd, with the head butt and then staying down when he was clearly capable of getting up.

As for the Lopez fight.... that was probably the time when he would be most entitled to quit - but after the previous episodes he really needed to bite on the gumshield and just take it.

Some fighters would NEVER dream of quitting in a million years, even when hopelessly outmatched. Ortiz isn't really a fighter, he just happens to be good at boxing.

If i remember the Maidana Ortiz fight correctly, the round before he quit he got battered and knocked down, next round gets knocked down again. If he didn't quit he was probably going to get stopped anyway but you never know with Ortiz's power he still might have won.

He still shouldn't have quit though, made him look bad. the Lopez fight i have no problem with. That Jaw looked horrible and it still looks pretty bad even now.

Will also make a different point on the fight no doubt it should have been stopped earlier Tszyu & the corner should of made the decision for him or the ref.

Had Jones had 50% of that damage he would of been stopped the doctor would have been called & i'll tell you why. Lebedev as the house fighter was & would be given every opportunity to fight on doesn't make it right but has happened in boxing since the last century.

  11. I don't see what the big deal is, fights should only be stopped on cuts/swellings/injuries if its severely affecting the fighters performance and he's taking a bad beating. Even with the injury Lebedev was fighting on even terms giving as good as he was getting throughout the fight, i had it level at the time of the stoppage so its not like he was getting dominated.

The corner know their man better than anyone and they obviously felt he was fine to continue, what annoys me is how the officials never bothered to take a look at it.

Get a grip fanboy have I criticised your hero? There was just 3 minutes to go and he was happy to quit with a smile on his face.
Imagine if that had been Hatton, he'd have been crucified on here.
