Very unfortunate but they did what had to be done.

The WBA were completely on the money with this one. Jones is roided to the gills, no reason for Lebedev to risk permanent damage.

 

Some people out there, if consistent with things they have said in the past, believe Lebedev should have actually fought tonight...

I will say that it's sketchy for the positive test to be discovered the afternoon of the fight when all the paying asses are already in the seats.

 

Dafuq? They would have let the fight actually happen. From the twitter page of the WBA Vice President: '#felinojones the bout may happen only if the parties agree to go ahead and exonerate @NewsWba from any responsibility'. In other words, the WBA doesn't really care if you cheat or use banned substances, as long as you can still make a deal the fight can go ahead.

To me that reads as the WBA saying "we have nothing to do with it, fight if you wish but don't attach our name to the bout"...they WERE going to stream the fight on their site but took the stream down around the same time that tweet came out.

 

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but Jones flunked his test not for roids, but a diuretic. Jones used the drug to artificially make weight.
I'd say by his appearance at the weigh in he is just not dedicated with his diet enough to make weight the right way.

 

Jones was tested by a Swiss neutral lab..................Don King owns him, so I am not surprised...........
