Denis Lebedev vs. Santander Silgado RBR

Yeah. I think the "other Jean Marc" probably outranks this one for notability. :yep Even now.

One is a respected cruiser champ turned pathetic heavy gatekeeper.

The other is a middling cruiser gatekeeper and hasn't ever been more.

 

Round 4

Monrose is slapping around the sides and dry-humping Drozd, chest to chest. It's getting very ragged on the inside. Drozd keeps trying his best to space them out with his jab and start to discourage Monrose with crosses or chopping rights to the brow. Monrose keeps worming his way in there and slapping the body or up in wide arcs to the head, with lots of incidental skull grinding. Drozd is still landing the cleanest shots, having to shorten them up to find the mark up close.

Round 5

Drozd keeps pumping the jab up top. Monrose is now cut by his left eye! Trickling profusely. Drozd throws a 1-2 but Monrose rolls under it, taking it across his backside. Drozd pushes Monrose out of a lean-in/clinch attempt and keeps jabbing at him. Drozd is now imposing his strength. Drozd taps Monrose with several jabs as they turn awkwardly in a full spin. Monrose catapults himself forward while crouching with a hook to the body. Drozd now switches up and leads with straight rights instead of his jab, having more success catching Monrose on the end of them. Monrose tries to fight his way inside but is outgunned. Big overhand rights by Monrose, falling short as Drozd steps lightly out of range and to the left. Nice combo to the face by Drozd. Monrose has to hold on.

Drozd is looking pretty sharp, even against a wicked spoiler.

Maybe he's soon to be eligible for a dance with Lebedev? :think (er, or Silgado)

This is for a minor vacant title of the WBA...meaning he'd be nudged up their rankings... He is currently #9.

Round 6

Drozd is having to haul Monrose off his chest and shove him back frequently. Busy jabs by Drozd in between the infighting that Monrose is looking to constantly force (but not necessarily getting the best of). Very physical, grueling game of tug-of-war. Monrose getting in mostly slaps.

Round 7

Monrose is bowling in body shots coming forward. Drozd repels him to the perimeter with his jab. Monrose now tries to jab with Drozd. Failed experiment. Drozd picks him apart at mid-range. Monrose returns to his rushing and grabbing attempts. Drozd shoves him off and hooks. Drozd tosses a 1-2 over his head as Monrose ducks. Lots of clinching and quickly letting go with surprise uppercuts by Monrose. Drozd is wary (and quicker) and able to slip them, however. Lots and lots of infighting, Monrose borderline suplexing at times.
