Nice to see Taka getting his prediction spot on. Our little Japanese buddy and Cliff Rold were the only two on that site

    Yeah.

Rold seemed to doubt Kalenga hit hard enough to stop Lebedev from ''taking over and roughing him up''

Whilst obviously he couldn't stop Lebedev from doing his thing, I don't think it was because of him lacking the power to prevent him from doing so. Kalenga was dangerous right up until the end and Lebedev had to give his power due respect at all times.

Kalenga was doing his best Pascal impression. Countered from awkward angles whenever Dennis mounted a defensive. However Kalenga had trouble connecting when he let off first, but Lebedev seemed content with just slipping the punches, rarely did he counter.

I wasn't worried about Kalenga's right hand really. Lebedev could see them coming. It was the meaty left he threw after it I was concerned about. That's how he scored the KD - coming back with that big left after the right.

Highly entertaining, but even at his peak 4-5 years ago Lebedev was highly overrated on here. Can't believe that people used to talk him up and list him as a supreme talent and the best H2H Cruiserweight back then, even after the Guillermo Jones war, and still to this day. He clearly is not and never was. He is a brute.

As for Manuel Charr, I would thank the heavens for this loss but that isn't needed at all. If anything, just shame the heavens for carrying his career to where it has gone (somehow fooling legions of ESB posters into thinking he was anything other than irrelevant ever since he was announced as Vitali's opponent). That man, his fan base, and how people view him... total joke.

Sounds through-and-through like this was a great card, though.

wtf? Don't remember anyone claiming he was a supreme talent but he's is and has always been a very solid Championship level guy. A brute? His defense certainly isn't impenetrable but it's quite decent, has nice footwork, lateral movement, balance with a very complete offense.

He's far more skilled than typically given credit for (haven't watched today's fight yet) and what warped memories do most seem to have regarding the G.Jones fight? Denis was winning about 7 rounds to 3 going into the 11th and outboxed Jones majority of the time in spite of only having one eye from the 2nd round onwards. How was that a poor display or "exposing" like you claim?

H2H he's arguably been the best CW over the last several years and while there is really good new talent in Usyk, Kudryashov, Makabu, Mchunu etc one could still make that claim at the moment, at least until he's dethroned or someone dominates another of the established Champions.

Lebedev is more all around skilled than Danny Garcia for example, more complete offense, defense is similar level, with much better footwork.

He seems very bitter about the division claiming he used to be a fan, not sure i believe him, but that the best fights not getting made turned him.

    YPH/Cunningham I & II
    Huck/Afolabi II & III
    YPH/Ross
    Mchunu/Chamber
    Lebedev/G.Jones
    Chakhkiev/Wlod
    Drozd/Masternak
    Kalenga/Masternak
    Drozd/Wlod
    Makabu/Kucher
    Kudryashov/Palacios
    Lebedev/Kalenga
    Ola/Ramirez winner against YPH
    Makabu/Mchunu

Been pretty decent the last couple years, better than it has been for a long time and no worse than most other divisions. Hopefully Huck moves up and the Ola/Ramirez winner can dethrone YPH cuz the Sauerland titlists have no intention of fighting anyone real. If they would just go away it would pick up even more.

Anyone calling him a brute don't know what the **** they are talking about. (A description of a "brute" would be more applicable to Huck)

Very true, that said Denis does have the attributes of a brute (looks, power, toughness) but pretty good skills to go along with it.

Ahh, now I remember Makabu, he's the guy who got that gift decision vs Kucher
