Tbh, the evidence was out there, just overlooked. Same kind of fight Arum Umansee, a high crisp workrate gives Barthelemy trouble. I think its just annoying because it doesn't have to be this way but Barthelemy chooses to fight like this against that style for no intelligent reason that i can percieve. Might be the fighting dog in him that wants to slug it out and get rough and dirty instead of box

Shafikov is underrated, his style is difficult for boxers.

Sure, but he clearly lost last night to a better man.

Rances beat him quite wide, 116-112 was fair.

I had it 115-113 and I think it could have been even closer. Not wide or clear at all.

Yea you mentioned that early, predicted it pretty accurately kudos.
But i gotta say, Barthelemy helped him out big time with questionable tactics that were unforced errors. Theres nothing Shafikov can do to voluntarily make Barthelmy choose to give up his height and reach, yet he does so. Shafikov doesn't have big power, and Barthelemy can counter punch him all day if he wanted. Full credit to what Shafikov brings to the table, tough rugged, consistency. But its good to confirm the intelligence kink in Barthelemy's armor for future fights against a similar high work rate tough style. No point in having advantages if you nullify them yourself

115-113 can still be clear, ala Matthysse/Judah. Close fight, but very clear. Matthysse should have had that win.

I had this 116-112, thought it was very clear to anyone objective.

Not when the rounds are close.

I didn't see many close rounds. Thought a lot of Rances rounds were clear, same with Sha's rounds.

Maybe we saw a different fight or judged it differently depending on what we like. From how I judged it based on the 4 categories, Rances clearly won 8 rounds.

Shafikov knows how to get on the inside of his opponents, that's what he does. He's the shorter guy in every one of his fights and he's learnt how to do it very effectively. However, if one thing Barhtelemy should have done is what Vazquez did and clinch him. Granted with the right ref that could have worked against his favour but more times than not, it works for you.

Good for you, I thought some rounds were clear whilst a few could have gone either way. Don't bother me anymore please, I don't want to argue with a troll anymore.

Well one sign that its close is when you get people with all kinds of different scorecards which happened in this fight. Again, same thing happened against Umansee.. who whaddya know has a similar style... some people including ring side commentators had him losing.

For the future Barthelemy sucks against this style because he fights a ****ty gameplan, 2 fights in evidence now

Luckily for him, the other titlists are all boxers.
