This is for the British Boxing Board of Control's Celtic 154lb title, which has been vacant since the inaugural contest eight years ago between Colin McNeil & Taz Jones.

 

Round 1

Hogan signs a cross on his chest with his right glove and then rushes out to meet Grunty in the middle of the ring. Strong left jab from Hogan. Prunty dances around the shorter man, arms dangling by his knees and long frame leaned aside. Hogan is driving his man back with the forceful high straight jab, pushing it as he doubles up rather than snapping.

Round 2

Prunty is showboating, throwing out no-look jabs with his left and then spinning his right arm behind himself as he ambles in a crouch wide of Hogan and leans over. Hard jabs by Hogan, timing Prunty's and landing past them with a bit of a slipping motion to let Prunty's jab sail over his shoulder. Hogan is walking his man down with that jab and scoring it despite Prunty playing his defense up for the crowd.

Round 3

Hogan is still in control with the jab. Wild lashes out from the dip by his taller quarry, using loose motions to keep his upper body pitching and yawing off the center line but Hogan adjusts his aim with the hard jab and drops in some right hands clubbing the exposed back of Prunty's head.

Round 4

Prunty stands in and trades jabs with Hogan, thrusting down at him and then stooping to shoulder into him with a half turn before Hogan can generate his own burst offensively. Hogan is doubling up on the 1-2 coming forward and herds Prunty into the ropes. Another shoulder-tackle by Prunty, and he dives low and digs his skull into Hogan's midsection. Hogan clubs at him to pry him off. Hogan is working in the pocket as Prunty looks to swoop out and land a blind overhead shot.

Boxrec lists them both as 5'11"; that's just poppy****. Hogan is at least 2-3" shorter, so either he's more like 5'8" or Prunty is over six feet.

 

Round 5

Hogan is tripling his jab past the exploratory jab of Prunty. Hogan is stepping in as he throws, while Prunty twists away on the outside and simply extends his left arm. Prunty is able to walk Hogan into a corner using feints and full-body dips to either side while jabbing Hogan in the belly. They maneuver back out to center ring as Prunty fails to capitalize on his positional advantage. Incidental rabbit punch by Hogan as Prunty bends over low in front of him. Hard jabs by Hogan. Prunty dances around him and pops out a few jabs aimed into Hogan's temples from a side angle but Hogan spins and tosses a pair of hard counter jabs at him, resetting his feet and moving forward. Prunty is landing some body shots dipping in close but is backed off by a right hand up high on the head. Hogan jabs his way in and Prunty ties up. Prunty drops his arms, showboating again. Jabs from the hip by Prunty. Hogan backs all the way into the ropes, luring Prunty in. Big hook by Hogan. Prunty ties up again.

This stream is absolutely horrendous.

I would take Keyhole picture quality over this much choppiness.

 

Round 6

Hogan is gliding back and to his left as Prunty roams in on him with hands low, flicking up jabs and looping a right hand over the top walking forward. Hogan turtles up and then explodes with jabs on the nose and body shots when Prunty wanders in close enough. Lunging jab by Hogan, springing up off his feet and scoring flush, snapping Prunty's head back. Hogan ducks a jab and swerves away with his knees still bent to a squat, avoiding Prunty's sweeping right hand. Hogan jabs in and they get tied up. Big right hand by Hogan. Prunty twists and rolls with it, turning as he walks off. Exchange at the bell.

Round 7

Hogan doubles a jab into Prunty's face, running in and starting fast. Prunty seizes the reins from him, driving Hogan into a corner pumping several jabs in from higher up than usual. They take turns, coming straight at each other with flurries or sliding backward in defensive postures - Hogan with his turtle shell and Prunty with his awkward leans. Huge flurry by Hogan, landing three straights with a left hook at the end but Prunty stands up to it well and jabs back at him. Hogan is tied up missing a jab lunging in. Prunty lobs out a quick right hand but Hogan is able to pull back and pivot to evade. Hard jabs to the body by Hogan, chasing Prunty around the ring. He brings them upstairs and Prunty folds himself up, getting his entire upper half beneath the jab and himself poking at Hogan's body. Prunty slaps a hook as they break from a clinch. Hook by Hogan stepping in. Prunty ties him up and they collide into the ropes while clasped together.

That seventh was pretty cool. They fought all three minutes.

 

Round 8

Hogan is jabbing with Prunty, both tapping each other on the nose. Prunty loops a right over his own held-out jab, but misses as Hogan drops low while cranking up his jab. Flurry by Hogan and down goes Prunty. He shoots up in a hurry. I'm not sure the ref even ruled it a knockdown as he didn't appear to give a count, but it was most assuredly caused by punches and not a trip or anything. Prunty is looking to grab. The ref keeps splitting them. Hogan marches in and lands hard jabs. Prunty dives in and throws both arms wide around Hogan's middle. Hogan tries instead to hook in, with the same result. Prunty is determined to hold on whenever he can. Hogan mixes it up, jabs, hooks and rights, scoring a couple on the way in but getting swallowed up in a clinch before long. Prunty doubles a few jabs from the hip and then shoeshines the body diving in. HARD right hand by Hogan, jerking Prunty's head around just before the bell.
