The 2nd best russian fighter on the planet, beat marco huck imo, lost via grotesque wound against a roided to the gills guillermo jones, and was ahead on 3 cards, battled his heart out with one of the worst injuries boxing has seen. This fighter deserves much credit, hes got a great lefthand, but his 2hand power, has an iron jaw, iron will and good boxing skills! would like too see him battle the two british bums next, ko'ing bellew and cleverly! Dennis The white Swan Lebedev War!!!! :toney :!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rygXddWJGo
Then Jones shows up even more juiced for the rematch and Lebedev still wanted to go through with the fight.
Lebedev was inactive close to four years working ans an electrician because he could not gets fights to pay the bills. Fighters from overthere have it so much harder getting an opportunity to make money as professionals. I like to think guys like Lebedev had it difficult and paved the way for the greater opportunities fighters of his type are receiving today.
Didn't watch him much, but from what I've seen, he isn't really the 2nd best Russian boxer (although in Russia he is perhaps the most popular after Povetkin). So, besides Povetkin, I'd say he isn't better boxer than Kovalev, and I'd say than even Beterbiev has looked more impressive (taking the amateur career into account as well). As for the cruiserweights, I didn't watch much (if any) fights of Drozd and Chakhkiev, so I can't say. Lebedev may have achieved more in his career than almost any other current Russian boxer, but to be honest, I think that there are a couple of them who are more skilled than him.
yeh he didnt fight from 04-08 in that time he could of really done his legacy no harm at all. The Cruiserweight division is still fresh for anyone to come and right there name in the history books. If he were to beat marco huck in a rematch or beat hernandez for the IBF title, he would be the best on paper, although he is the best cruiserweight in the world for me, anyway.
I Have him above povetkin. Povetkin joint 3rd with Provodnikov. Artur beterbiev will be top or 2nd soon enough. and atm Sergey KRUSHER Kovalev is the best in russia.
Povetkin on Provodnikov level, are you serious? That's almost like saying Klitschko is on Postol level. With all respect to his wins and titles, Kovalev has a lot of work to do before he can be considered in the same league as Povetkin. Until then, he's #2.
I dont rank Alexander Povetkin 1st, he is very talented, maybe the most talented and skillful than the rest, but he got beaten narrowly by Marco huck, who he should off trounced, and produced a No Show against Wladimir Klitchko. So talentwise he could be top, performance wise, provodnikov gave bradley a beating and was unlucky to lose, the top 5 p4p timothy bradley that is and also i rate Chris Algieri higher than most, so that was a fight which could of gone either way, if a rematch occured id fancy Ruslan.
Don't pull that p4p circus, let's not do that. Provodnikov has no argument being discussed here. He is a little brawler and he doesn't have the skills nor the achievements to be compared to an elite heavyweight like Povetkin. Lebedev, on the other hand, has done good things at cruiser, but his skills are well below Sasha's.
