Denton Vassell vs. Samuel Colomban & Matty Askin vs. Roman Kracik RBR

Vassell looked HORRIBLE against Ushuona.

I had him winning 116-112 but with some negotiable rounds. I could see a draw. Some felt Ushuona got robbed.

It's astonishing to me that he's made it through 18 bouts undefeated. His talent is pretty marginal.

I expect him to yet again be upstaged by Askin (who scored another impressive stoppage in the co-feature to Vassell-Ushuona).

 

As long as the principals take the ring in the next twenty minutes, this Commonwealth 147lb title bout should be over in plenty of time before the Fury vs. Pajkic card starts. :happy (just over an hour from now)

Colomban got dropped twice in a single round by Oyewale Omotoso...but hung on to survive in a ten round points loss.

Conclusion: good chin. (Omotoso is a beast).

 

Round 1

Vassell comes out, using lots of Tyson-like side to side movement. Vassell grinds in against Colomban and tries to slap down on him with high-arcing shots. Colomban steps back and Vassell falls on his face. Slip. Vassell keeps leaning in and shoots up a left upper-hook, grazing. Colomban backs up and jabs. Right hook to the body by Vassell, good dig. Now a left hook on the other side. Colomban backs away and tries to line up jabs on the back foot. Vassell is weaving side to side and making him miss, only caught by the jab accidentally when he leans his mouth right into its path. Low blow by Vassell. Warning. Colomban is asked not to retaliate. Jabs by Colomban, scoring at mid-range. Vassell jumps in and smothers him. Arms tangled, but they don't clinch. Colomban backs out. Vassell swings with wild hooks. Colomban is caught despite trying to bend forward and slip. Body shots by Vassell. Colomban has his back to the ropes and Vassell pressing against his chest throwing hard low digs.

Round 2

Left hooks and looping rights by Vassell coming forward. He goes to the body a bit but can't help straying south of the border. Colomban is unable to move off to the side and is just backed straight up to the ropes repeatedly, and is unable to effectively clinch as Vassell just keeps slapping at his sides up close while grinding his chest into Colomban's. Wild hooks by Vassell coming forward, with Colomban trying to duck them and counter with double jabs as he rises up. Vassell parries some jabs and circles left, then lands a NICE right hand in an exchange bang on the chin. Colomban reaches out with some long shots and Vassell weaves through and gets Colomban in a tangle against the ropes, pinning his arms down and slapping away. Left hook to the jaw by Vassell. Holding and hitting. Howard Foster is letting them infight.
