Wild threshing hooks by Vassell leaping forward, slashing away at Colomban's body. Colomban winces as though caught on the groin (although it looked like a shot to the abdominals). He is given recovery time. Vassell keeps bashing forward with somewhat looping rights up top and left hooks to the body. Colomban is trying to tie up as he drifts straight back to the ropes. HARD body shot by Vassell. Again Colomban acts as if he got hit low. Getting a bit silly now. Point taken by Howard Foster!! atsch Replay shows a shot right on the belt line. Two minutes left as they resume. Vassell goes back to his Tyson movements, side to side. HARD left hooks and right uppercuts by Vassell, bashing Colomban into the ropes. Torrid onslaught. Vassell is pissed. Colomban runs. Some upper body movement and a floating high guard by Colomban while up on his toes, trying to anticipate Vassell's charge and be ready to jump out of the way. Vassell hammers in with combos of hooks and looping power punches, pushing Colomban to the ropes.

Round 4

Colomban tries to bend over and jab the body, darting in and out and making himself tall on the outside. Vassell weaves side to side, moving his head and throwing hard right hands leads and left hooks up top. Colomban ducks under a left hook to the skull and blunts its impact but got cracked well with it. Vassell slips a jab and lands a FLUSH right hand to the chin, landing with a sickening crunch!!! Reaching left slap-hook from outside by Colomban, using his long arms. Vassell has a cut by his left eye. Lots of jabs by Colomban while circling to his left and keeping distance. Some long right hands behind the jab as well, just softly touching from outside. Vassell is trying to get low and bash his way in. Finally he gets Colomban on the ropes again and works the body. Uppercuts to the belly by Vassell.

Agreed. Didn't quite win it but made his best argument so far.

 

Round 5

Wild overhand by Vassell. All fully loaded power shots from Vassell, coming forward and missing as Colomban backs off and spoils. Colomban turns his shoulders in, moves his head and clings on when Vassell gets close. Slappy hooks from outside by Colomban. Vassell is banging the body as he abandons the head hunt. Vassell rushes in and taps the ribs with a soft left hook thrown off balance. Right hands badly telegraphed by Vassell. Colomban trots in a circle around Vassell and lands long jabs. The reach disadvantage is starting to hurt Vassell. He can't close the gap and is eating a trickle of light jabs as Colomban dances around.

Round 6

Colomban is backing up to the ropes as in previous rounds but is waiting for Vassell with long arms held out to drape over him and swallow him up. Uppercuts inside by Colomban. Hooks up high by Vassell. Pretty even trading. Better shots by Vassell, more landing by Colomban. Now Vassell doubles a hook to the head and doubles it again to the body. Good work by Vassell. Chopping right to the body by Colomban leaning in. They press forearms together, each pitched forward. HARD shots to the face by Vassell. Colomban holds. Vassell chases him around the ring, slipping jabs but having his hooks ducked. Another clinch. Light body shots traded until the bell.

Round 7

Vassell is swinging wild hooks coming forward. Colomban is pushing out his jab, and their arms are just threading past each other and obscuring each man's vision with neither landing. Now they lean together and land body shots. Colomban initiates the exchange with low-reaching pecks at Vassell's sides, and Vassell finishes it with his harder stuff. Now they back out and trade long jabs, both missing. Colomban is just shooting his left hand out while circling rapidly, without taking any aim whatsoever. Vassell is trying to feel him out with his own jab, but unable to pull the trigger faster than Colomban can get out of the way. They come together again and Vassell slams Colomban with another of his hard hooks to the body. Separation, and back together. Body shots by Vassell. Hooks and uppers while leaning in. Colomban tries to jog away to his right.

Round 8

Vassell is grinding in and slapping up high with his chin nestled against Colomban's throat. Lots of wrestling. Wild hook by Vassell ducked. Colomban is trying to trade with him, flicking out short punches inside while trying to pry Vassell's bigger stronger body off of his own. Colomban reacts as if hit with a low blow, but impossible to tell from the angle if he was. He looks ready to cry, but gets no reprieve from the ref and so gets back to business. They trade uppers to the chest as Vassell shoves Colomban back with his powerful arms. Colomban ducks and slips out the side under them. Vassell jabs his way in and then just grinds up against Colomban again. Vassell is insistent upon infighting, even though he isn't particularly great at it. (better than Colomban, though)
