In 1900, a woman by the name of Rosie Liverwitz, reported her husband J Liverwitz to the police after a series of domestic assaults. While the police officer was interviewing Mrs Liverwitz, Mr Liverwitz assaulted them both shooting the police officer in the leg. He then fled to a nearby rooftop, where he was detained by none other than the pugilist Denver Ed Martin! Liverwitz was convicted of felonious assault, and sentenced to three years in prison.

    You couldn't make this up!

She went on to be murdered a few months later, by a laborer named Antonio Mastrango, in a dispute over money.

    Good question.

I imagine that he witnessed the incident, and pursued the man up there.
