Tomorrow at the Ice Palace. WBO International lightweight title at stake, 5th defense of Berinchyk. Sánchez is, believe it or not, actually world ranked by the WBO - just barely, cracking its top 15 in the bottommost spot (probably by virtue of snatching their Latino belt at 135lbs last year versus Javier Clavero). Berinchyk himself is #3, with only Vasyl Lomachenko and George Kambosos, Jr. ahead of him in line to face champ Teófimo López. Some more fun interesting factoids about Sánchez that you almost certainly didn't know are: 1) his nickname "Pato Lucas" is Spanish for "Daffy Duck". Yes, as in the Looney Tune. and 2) despite allegedly being a 36 year old Chilean pugilist, you'd swear he was a 64 year old sannyasin, or the long-lost brother of Gurdeep Roy: https://boxrec.com/media/images/thumb/d/db/Jsanchezr.jpeg/200px-Jsanchezr.jpeg. The co-main event sees Khasan Uvaysovich Baysangurov taking on a soft touch stay busy opponent in Oleksandr Rubchev - his third consecutive soft touch stay busy opponent since Rob Brant dealt Baysangurov his first professional defeat, stopping him in round 11 of a WBA title bid over two years ago. Not sure why they're babying him like this. Ditto his brother Khuseyn, who also lost his zero (in 2018, against Aram Amirkhanyan) and has had three relatively easy assignments since. Wasting their primes stagnating - which to a lesser extent could also be said of Berinchyk, who, although getting to be overdue for a step up from "pretty good" types like Arakawa or Simion and is taking a slight backward step here, is at least consistently taking on ranked competitors.
Sanchez legit looks like the Oompa Loompa out of the reimagined Charlie and the chocolate factory with Johnny depp. I follow a few of these ukranian lads and Krassyk on the gram. A few english comments ripping into the management for Berinchyk. I'm not sure what else they can do but keep him busy in these current times. I have mentioned I'd like to see him in there with Tennyson. Edit. I just now have looked up Gurdeep Roy who is the actor that plays said oopma loompa. Spot on @IntentionalButt
Couple of things you should know about Sloth from The Goonies: He's a Franciscan monk now He's stoked for some elder abuse. This content is protected
Berinchyk has almost the opposite career to Loma. Loma came along g incredibly quickly, whereas Berinchyk has had the slowest progress imaginable for a guy with his amateur experience. I dont know if he had bad promotion or what, but 5 years in and THIS is the level of fighter hes fighting?
Sanchez has a supremely padded record and in his last fight, the only one against a credible opponent, won a massive robbery in a fight he had lost at least 7-3. this is akin to fighting a brazilian, a waste of time for your average club fighter and a complete travesty for a fighter with the pedigree of berinchyk.
