At cruiserweight Somehow Wilder manages to do a Minut Bol impression and get under 200 to fight Marciano who comes in at a trim and ready 190. Who do you guys have in a 15 round slugfest?
Wilder, Joshua, Ortiz, Wlad, Povekin, Vitali, Lennox, Fury, Tyson, Holyfield all KO Marciano and Louis.
I didn't see that part, but... no, because none of them can make Cruiserweight, but it doesn't change anything I said, it reinforces it. Marciano and Louis were both way too small, and would be flattened in the modern day Heavyweight division.
The cruiserweight stipulation is ridiculous, since both are career heavyweights. I'm a Huge supporter of Wilder and think he's the best in the division, but he's never faced anyone like Marciano before. Marciano wouldn't tire like all of Wilder's opponents have and he also fights out of a crouch, which would most likely result in Wilder missing almost all of his shots. If Ortiz was able to neutralize Wilder's jab and go to work on him Marciano, who is twice the fighter Ortiz is could definitely get around the jab and take the to fight to Wilder. I'd say it's a 50/50 fight.
Marciano would have his head in Wilder's skinny chest, beat his body and never stop the entire fight. He would smother Wilder, Rocky would use his height against Wilder, not stop fight, tought as nails, Wilder would not do so sell, hell Dustin Nichols knocked Wilder down, Marciano never ran out of gas period....................
Lots of similarities between the two, both are awkward, undefeated and both had questionable opposition, they called Marcianos era weak too. Marciano could also be said to have had a weak chin, but his heart, grit and determination made up for it, Moore ,Louis and Jersey Joe dropped him but could not keep him down. Wilders killer instinct would keep putting him down until the ref steps in and stops it, TKO Wilder, late rounds.
No, Rocky was only 5 feet 10.5 inches tall, about 185 lbs...................Bivol is 6 feet 1 inches tall........................ So, did Wilder get the name Bong because of his pot?
I usually lean towards modern super-sized skilled heavies against old legends. However in this case, Marciano is my pick. Wilder is just soooo hittable and he gets outboxed almost every fight before landing his hail mary punches. Marciano is not only awkward to hit, but he'd be inside Wilder's range most of the fight and turning it into an inside brawl. Wilder isn't noted for his defensive footwork. If he didn't get Marciano out early - and it's possible, DW has shocking power - I predict he'd get broken down inside the distance.
