Deontay Leshun Wilder vs. Andrés Ponce Ruiz, Jr.

Last I heard May 20th was the date for Lomachenko vs Haney at MGM Grand.

Why the WBC did not call the purse bid yet? Makes no sense.

 

I guess I am far more pessimistic than you regarding how his body will handle those beatdowns in his late 30's. We shall see!

 

I don't think Wilder would ever hold his punches but this scenario is entirely plausible if Wilder doesn't land his money shot early and Ruiz is in shape enough to counter him effectively, I could legit see Ruiz catching Wilder in an exchange. Although Wilder does carry his power late, it's far more dangerous early on, if Ruiz can get through that and land a few counters of his own he might be able to pull it off.

Still think Wilder likely stops him but don't think it's a given.

 

Wilder by decision in a rather boring fight.

Ruiz was afraid to engage Ortiz, I think he could have stopped him if he actually pressed on the gas. I'm wondering the AJ fights cracked his chin, Arrerola dropped him after all...

Ruiz will be cautious against Wilder and be extremely low volume. Wilder will be more active and win on points. In other words, Ruiz will go into survive and he'll do just that IMO.

 

I'm off this fight and on to Usyk/Wilder. No time to waste.

 

Wtf does it take to make a fight these days? This has been talked about for ages and it's still not confirmed. Geez.

 

Wilder doesn't need to be a sharpshooter. Wilder just needs to lean back and throw 1-2 combinations from range all day to be safe from Ruiz. All it takes is a mediocre jab and some range to stay safe from Ruiz who is only dangerous during exchanges. Don't exchange and you win. It's easy for a guy like Wilder who doesn't really throw combinations to begin with.

 

This one has been in the "works" since Moses was in short pants.

I'm to fussed if we see it or not.

Wilder is going baptise this man.

 

This is a funny matchup.
If Wilder KO's Ruiz, AJ and Hearn will lose their mind.
If Ruiz beats Wilder, Wilder will lose his mind all over again, probably worse than the Fury losses.

 

I hear you, and that could very well happen. That is all banking on Wilder staying composed and not being a shell of his former self however. That is my whole point, I don't think he will be capable of being his former self. When was the last time you say a fighter who was 37+ take horrendous beatdowns late in their career and come back looking like their former self? It very rarely happens. If Andy comes in motivated and trained properly, and Wilder shows signs that Fury took a lot out of him, then this could be a W for Ruiz. That's all I am saying, people act like this will be a walk in the park for Wilder and I disagree.
