Busted my own eardrum once. Entire room spun upside down and I completely lost my legs like someone cut my strings. I can’t imagine anyone keeping their equilibrium, much less fighting with one.

You can -- probably justly -- discredit Fury's skill if this was basically just a freak injury, but I can't fault Fury for taking advantage of the injury. That's just how boxing is. Fury was on the other end of the same thing in his last fight, and there's nothing Fury could do about Wilder's injury even if he wanted to -- is Fury supposed to quit to save Wilder?

A burst eardrum is indeed severe, so I'm quite sad if this was basically just a freak event from which we can't necessarily conclude much.

This. Wilder was way too arrogant to think he could comeback with the same gameplan when it didn’t work in the first fight and barely got him a draw. For years Wilder has been saying he didn’t need proper footwork or ring savvy and that his power was all he needed.

Hopefully this crushing loss will humble him enough to actually start listening to his coaches for once.

tf you mean the ear does not have fluid in it? how do you think your ear maintains your balance... I have had a busted eardrum and it bleeds and there is fluid too.

It wasn't an eardrum problem. It was a "the other guy getting his right hand off first" problem.

Plus the fact that Fury was rocking him with jabs and right uppercuts.

These are not the excuses you are looking for.

Wilder isn’t talented enough to change his fight game, and he is too old now.

A rematch would make sense if Wilder did have a busted eardrum, essentially preventing him from fighting at capacity. The fight could be a bit more interesting without the busted eardrum.

That being said, we're not doctors. Maybe he didn't have a busted eardrum.

But those saying that he would've KO'd Fury if his corner didn't throw in the towel. That doesn't make sense to me.

I actually thought he showed amazing heart/toughness in this fight. I think if he returns a lesser fighter, it would be due to physical injury rather than mental.

As a Fury fan for very personal reasons, I was scared heading into this. Wilder is so, so, SO much better than he is given credit for, and if I did any ****-talking about him, it was all from the spirit of "**** YOUR TEAM, MY BOY(S) WILL BEAT YOUR BACKSIDE!" He has an effective jab, a great instinct of when to throw the knockout blow when he has space, and JESUS CHRIST that right hand. When Fury went in on that 'I'm going after him!" I got super nervous. Furthermore, we saw the adjustments Wilder was making (more frequent jab, and switching up head and body attacks) and it was effective enough that if someone wanted to give Wilder at least one of the first two rounds, I wouldn't argue.

This was a fantastic performance against an opponent who has proven in every other fight he's been in that he is dangerous for literally every second of every round of the fight.

    That said...

I haven't seen a fellow American get undressed in the ring like that since Jeff Lacy. :aaaaa:

What was more concerning was the large bump that Wilder had where the upper jaw meets the ear. That's a very dangerous area for a bump like that to be. It could have been the result of an fracture of the upper jaw when he was hit on the side of the head. You see how swollen that was in his post fight interview, he could barely talk it was so swollen.

Wilder's right just looked slow tonight from the offset, he was getting beat up early on and the stoppage was the right decision.

    Hearn is salivating though...

He'd love to lure Fury back to the UK to allow his Meal Ticket to lift those titles off him! (WBC/Lineal)... I'm sure Hearn is drawing up a Master Plan right now to do it!

If Hearn could Dictate every aspect of the fight and have it in London I believe he'll throw lots of $$$ at Fury and Step-Aside $$$ for Wilder, Pulev and Usyk...
