That's the thing, there's no evidence to convict him that he's ducking anyone.

It's all up in the air.

Duhapuas is an extremely game opponent.

And if you can't accept that, then it's your issue.

Arreola, Thompson, Wawrzyk, Duhaupas all of those guys names have been around since the day scheduled, there were reports and articles incuding the Boxing News 24 but never any mention of Jennings or Takam. It's not ducking since Wilder isn't mandated to fight them.

Check out the HWs thread, Houmzz said team Wilder's goal was to get the voluntary defence out of the way with minimum amount of money and he's a reliable and unbiased source when it comes to HWs.

Wanted to like wilder but this is embarrassing:lol:

How any top fighter would allow themselves to be turned into a joke like this '(relatively speaking)' is beyond me.

WBC top 15, there are really only a few viable candidates that he could have fought

Jennings, Ruiz, Takam, Duhaupas, Arreola, Fujimoto, Stiverne 2

It's entirely possible that most of them refused, that's my point.

Talks with Jennings/Takam could have ended as soon as it started, that's why rumours didn't start spreading.

I don't see how people can blame Wilder. There's no evidence of him weaselling out of a fight with them

He's the champion and he should've taken a real challenge after a cherrypick, that's my point. And you can be %100 sure we would've heard if a serious offer was made to Jennings/Takam.

Duhaupas poses a big challenge, he's actually quite good.

The thing I don't understand is, why did Takam and Jennings not say on social media if Wilder was REALLY ducking them?

    :think

That's why I'm saying, I'm not entirely sure that those guys wanted the fight at all.

There are a lot of clouds over this entire situation.

I'm sure Wilder is waiting for the purse bid against Povetkin. He'll fight Povetkin soon, he has stated this.

I'm not saying Wilder is ducking anyone, his team is not trying to find someone that can challenge him and risk the pay day against Povetkin or Wlad, that's all.

Not every fight needs to be an Ali-Frazier type slugfest. Wilder is fighting every couple months, which a great IMO. Look at Tarver who fights only once a year. Dempsey went years between bouts but he made $$$ making movies and doing exhibitions.

The man needs to feed his family, not fight only guys you posters want him to fight. Even Ali fought bums to make some $$$.

After this bout or the next yes, he needs to step up to Klit or Povetkin levels. Til then, stay busy, enjoy being champ, do some TV to raise your national profile, then step up.

    How would you know this?

Like I said before, ain't nobody is calling him a ducker so how can you say he never tried to find the best man out there?

All I can say is that Duhaupas isn't the best man for the job (definitely) but to say that he never tried to get the better guys is just blasphemy. There's no evidence to suggest that he simply tried to s****e the bottom of the barrel.

And if he fights Povetkin soon, all will be forgotten anyways.

He'll beat Povetkin soon enough. :thumbsup

Yes this is a poor match up, but this is the HW division.

In the past decade, Ive seen "world title fights" such as

    Wlad-Leapai
    Haye-Harrison
    Povetkin-Wawryzk
    Vitali-Briggs
    Haye-Completely washed up Ruiz
    Chagaev-Drummond
    Chagaev-Oquendo
    Povetkin-incredibly shot Rahman
    Wlad-Mormeck
    Povetkin-Boswell
    Valuev-Beck
    Valuev-Barrett

But Wilder seems to get more grief than others, after only his second defence.

ok, don't ever tell anyone this, but I actually like Wilder

I think his right hand is awesome, plus his jab can be very good.

That said I worry about his jaw.

I could be wrong but I worry about it due to how he reacted to punches he has taken since he was a AM.

Now, that might not be a problem, look at Wlado? He doesn't have the best jaw and look how good he has done?

A big test will be Sasha.

he's a faster version of Duhaupas.
the Wilder fight was a sham in most people's eyes.
I would pick him over Duhaupas. styles make fights.

he is trying to play it, because he's whole career was cherry picking and people thought when he won a belt that he'd actually have to really ramp up the quality of his opposition....well he is a little but still playing the cherry pick safe game. He isn't doing his reputation amongst the die hard fans but he doesn't care about them...same as Void doesn't. This is about getting some more $$$$ before the real risky mandatory is forced on him...

It is really embarrassing for Deontay that Al is making him fight such laughable opponents. I wonder if he's bothered by it or just enjoys the money and being the "champ".
